DBT 10.6 SR4 and DBT 10.7 both allow the user to save files into the format used by the earlier programs.

As long as you remember to do so, you can maintain two way copying of files between old and new software. Of course, some aspects of format and translation are lost when trying to work between programs that have had so much development.

Now, this feature is not available to DBT 10.6 or DBT 10.6 SR1
If you have one of these versions, use the "check for updates" feature in DBT (under the Help menu). to update to 10.6 SR4 or DBT 10.7 (depending on what your license entitles you to).

So ... there is no need to work with braille formatted files. You can exchange actual DBT files.
