Hi,

 

We received our Braille Box V5 a little more than two years ago. The Index 
technician has been by us about a dozen times for hammer issues. They've 
replaced the entire unit twice because they couldn't fix it by us. It's been a 
nightmare beyond any imagination. With that said, the latest unit has been 
performing well now for about 6 months. There have been some ribbon issues 
which we were able to fix ourselves with the help of tech support. Not sure if 
that's an option for most people. We emboss about 1000-1500 11x17 pages a week 
and we have not experienced any sheet feeding issues. 

 

There is no question that Index has or is close to getting this machine right. 
We have this embosser in our main office and the noise level is low. If you

Has anyone had any experience with the Index Braille Box V5 embosser? A 
competitor told me that the hammers and solenoids frequently overheat causing 
need for repairs and the sheet feed isn’t very reliable. That’s from a 
competitor, so I want to verify that claim.

 

Also wondering about experience with the Irie-AT BrailleTrac 120 and/or  
BrailleSheet 120.

 

If you are working with any of these embossers I’d love to hear about your 
experience with them.
