I'm guessing this is happening because, in the case of the be contraction, a
computer has no way of determining whether be should be used unless the
individual words are hard-programmed into the tables. Most words starting
with beth leave be uncontracted, so I'm guessing a judgment call was mdae
here.

I can verify that this is also happening in DBT 12.3.

Hello, Everyone,
FYI, I'm sending along the message I just posted to the Duxbury users list
about DBT's omission of the lower groupsign "bbe".
My best wishes to you all for the holidays.

Subject: [duxuser] Translation of the Name Bethesda
Hi, Everyone,
Today I came across the name Bethesda brailed without the lower groupsign
"be" and notice that Duxbury 12.2 translates the name without the "be"
groupsign. UEB sections 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 state to use the "be" groupsign
when the letters "be" form the first syllable and when the letters "be" are
followed by a letter or contraction.
I am therefore asking whether Duxbury's omission of the groupsign "be" in
Bethesda is an error in the UEB translation template? I did notice that the
contraction is used when translating with the former EBAE template.
Thanks.
All the best to you all for the holidays.
Regards,
Peg Mercer
