Hi Dani,
As you are using direct braille input, I assume you are working in a braille
document.
You are correct in assuming that the font codes and italics style don't work
with direct braille input. These effect translation, and DBT assumes that you
have already translated when in the braille document.
The font codes and italics style codes are inputted in a .dxp (print) file
which will then tell DBT to apply the appropriate indicators when the file is
translated to the .dxb (braille) file.

Subject: [duxuser] Italics and Direct Braille Input with DBT11.1
Hi, Everyone.
I am using direct Braille input and the UEB Basic template to enter a
document in to DBT11.1. I am trying to italicize a passage and have
tried both the style and the italics start and end codes surrounding
the passage. When I go to emboss the document, the passage isn't
italicized.
Do the font codes and italics style not work with direct Braille input?
Thanks,
Dani
