Hi Sandy,

Are you based in the U.S.? (I'm in the U.K.) If so, I think
your best bet is to speak to Duxbury. I'm really not sure
how the scripts work with demo version of JAWS.

As I said in my original message, the scripts are usually
installed when you install DBT.

George.

Hi George,

I am also in communication with Duxbury but my even so
my problem isn't solved yet so I thought I would get back to
you and get your input too. My Duxbury JAWS file was empty
so I copied from my JAWS demo folder the dbtw files with
these extensions: jcf, jkm, jsb, jsd, jsm, and jss into the
Duxbury JAWS folder. Also a dialogue box popped up having
me go to the JAWS script manager and save it. I did that as
the user. It was saved as JAWS Windows jss in the ENU file.

None of this helped and even made matters worse because
not only would it not read my Braille but my other keyboard
keys such as the arrows, backspace, delete, etc stopped
working.

I deleted the files out of Duxbury and also the internet
ones in the JAWS folder which had appeared. I still think
that I am worse that when I started because when JAWS in
running, my keyboard short cuts and arrow keys for moving
the cursor in print no longer work the way they used to.

What do you suggest that I do? My JAWS demo is going to
run out in a couple of days and I talked to Freedom
Scientific and am going to download another demo. I am
sighted and am doing all this because I am working on
lessons for teaching the blind computer Braille skills for a
possible personal project.

Can you list steps I should take with all this?

Thanks, Sandy

Hi Sandy,

I may be wrong, but I suspect you will have to re-install
(or rather "Repair") DBT in order to install the JAWS
scripts for DBT. If DBT didn't see JAWS on your system when
you installed, it wouldn't install these.

George.

Here is a question I cannot find the answer to in the help
menus of JAWS or DBT. I have downloaded the demo of JAWS
and am working in Duxbury with it. I understand the
commands for reading print text, but when I begin with the
braille screen, I can't get the screen reader to correctly
read the braille I have entered. It seems that I have to
translate it to print first. Is there a keyboard command
for the screen reader to work with the braille entry?

Thanks, Sandy
