Hi Kathy, As you can tell, I am still working on this menu. Following the instructions in DBT help, I copied the code string from your last message into all items on my menu. Now I am trying to hide the codes per the instructions in DBT help. I am using Word 2007, and the procedure is different from the one described there. Even though I think I have the right boxes checked to hide the codes, JAWS is still reading them. Is this normal behavior? Can someone tell me how to hide these codes in Word 2007? Thanks. Even on my own computer where supposedly I have administrator rights, I find that I need to copy the mws file into a directory which is considered "safe", make my changes and then copy the file back into the templates directory. I have also found that if I wish to make changes to my DBT template I need to run it "with administrator rights". To do this right-click your desktop icon and choose "run as administrator" Now back to the List Style. As long as you are using the dbt.mws style (default) which came with DBT then the List style should automatically map. You shouldn't need to make any changes to the mws file. But you may need to ensure that the List style in DBT is correct. We have ours with the following parameters: List. (ensure a fullstop at the end of the name, so DBT recognises it as a paragraph style) [hi1:3:0:2:2] [hi] The parameter [hi1:3:0:2:2] means paragraph begins in cell 1 with runovers cell 3, 0 right margin. The values of 2 set the increment of the left and runover margins when you move to a level 2 or level 3 List style with the use of the Alt-right arrow key. A further suggestion which WILL require some changes to the dbt.mws file. According to the mws file supplied by DBT, the TOC (table of contents) Word Style maps to List. We have changed this to map to Contents. We then have a specific DBT style call "Contents.", which is similar to the List style but has a 6 cell right margin ensuring that a long paragraph wraps before reaching the number on the right hand side of the page. The parameters for our Contents. style in DBT is [hi1:3:6:2:2] [hi] We have found this style also useful for such things as menus where you have a price on the right hand side. A menu item in Word can then be entered using the TOC style as Fried Chicken with rice served with steamed vegetables in season and gravy[[*fr;p~".*]]6.50 The menu description should then wrap before the right "column" where you want the price to sit. I hop this all makes sense. I tried adding it to the style map in SWIFT and received the following error message: DBT Error Error 75, Path/File access error If the problem persists, contact your technical support, giving the error number, error description, and the steps taken to replicate this error. OK Cancel Then I read the document in help about editing .mws files and tried to do it, but got an access denied error when I tried to save the dbt.mws file after I had made my changes. I am running DBT 11.1 SR 2 on a computer running Windows 7 64 bit. Thank you for jogging my memory about .mws files. I do recall learning how to edit the files when I took the DBT course through the Caroll Center and that the file was in the templates folder, but didn't remember the name of the file I needed to edit. Looks like I will be able to meet my needs if only I can clear up the apparent security issues. All additional help appreciated. Thanks. When importing a file, DBT does not apply a formatting style according to how it "looks" in Word, but according to the Style name which has been applied to a paragraph. The default name is Normal which DBT will automatically convert to Para. The List style is one of those styles which does not appear in the Word style list by default, you need to create it. Go to the Home Ribbon and open the style pane by clicking on the small arrow in the bottom right corner of the styles tab. (Alt-Ctrl-Shift-S) Click on the "New Style" button, bottom left and create a style called "List" with Paragraph as the Style Type. You can use the Format button to define the formatting you wish this style to have. Ensure that the box "New Documents based on this template" is ticked so that your template is updated and the style is available in all documents. If you wish, you can also assign a shortcut key to a style as well. We use Alt-L, L to apply the List style to a paragraph. By applying this List style to a paragraph in Word, it should then import into DBT applying the List style as defined in your DBT template. Additionally if you are wanting indented List entries then a List 2, List 3, List 4 style in Word will import into DBT as List [level 2], List [level 3], List [level 4] respectively. I hope this helps Kathy Kathy Riessen Coordinator Alternative Print Production SA School for Vision Impaired Tel: 08 8277 5255 Email: Kathleen.Riessen440@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx _____ From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> on behalf of Diane Scalzi <dscalzi@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, 31 January 2014 07:10 To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: Need Help With List Style Hi Krystin, Thanks for the suggestion. The easiest solution for a paragraph list is to use the list style in Duxbury. I thought I had prepared documents this way in the past, but I must be wrong because it isn't working. Any ideas? Thanks.
