Jean Look for accessible poartable Daisy players, they all play mp3/wma, some play ogg, wav, flac etc. The selection is: Victor Reader Stream from Humanware Milestone 312 from Bones Plextalk Pocket and Book Port Plus, both made by MacKenso corp, I think (spelling might be slightly off there, the Book Port Plus is designed by APH), same hardware but slightly different software. Booksense All of these players come with built in TTS engines and can handle/read most file formats, though different types handle different file formats. The price range is $300 to $450 pretty much for all. Pltextalk Pocket allows you to set bookmarks in recordings as you make them, which is really cool. I think all of them allow bookmarks in Daisy books. The Milestone is by far the smallest (size of a thick credit card, whereas the VR Stream is the size of a Nokia cell phone, N86 ish). You can google these, ILA (Independent Living Aids) has probably most of them in stock. There is a different service, I believe the website is www.accessiblemp3players.com, run by guys who set up the Rockbox firmware on commercial mp3 players and make them accessible. These, however, do not read Daisy format or have a built in TTS engine, but the cost is around $50 to $100. Sansa Fuze is a popular model, but they have quite a few. You can use software Daisy players on the iPhone/iPod/iPad, Read2Go from Bookshare, VOD (Voice of Daisy), and there is one made in Australia, all in the app store for around $5 to $20 I believe. I can send you a list off-line if you want to explore it. Again, I hope others may have benefitted, so I posted to the list. I won't respond again, as I know off-topic messages are not popular with list admins, but you can contact me privately if you want more information. I do not represent any of the hardware of software players in question, I have owned a Booksense (not impressed), Milestone (big fan, though I know there are a few limitations such as lack of bookmarking and slightly high price tag of $449), and I have tested all the others. Thanks and be well. -Birkir On 5/16/11, Jean Green <jegreen@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > Hello All... > > > > I have a question to which I hope someone out there has the answer.
