Sometimes you have to use the mouse cursor/JAWS cursor to check page
numbers.  Like blank lines, the screen reader will not necessarily read
things where the cursor doesn't go.  Page numbers and blank lines are among
the items which are controlled by codes and not directly by typing and
editing, so the I-beam cursor never lands on those items.
