Subject: [duxuser] Re: Question--OT -- MicroBraille

MicroBraille is computer software to produce braille through a more manual
process than is possible with DBT or MegaDots.

A MicroBraille file cannot be sent to an embosser. Thes files contain an
odd assortment of high-bit characters to represent braille. There is also
an extra line for each page that should not be brailled.

Some years ago, I wrote a program to convert a MicroBraille file into a
standard BRF (Braille Formatted File).
This program is called MicroCon (for MicroBraille converter). Its use is
quite simple. At the DOS command line, you type:

Microcon [source file name] [target file name] <Enter>

You can then load the new file into DBT as if it were a standard BRF file.
Please notice there are limnitations. Do not expect to be able to modify
the file in DBT, and then import those modifications into MicroBraille.
Once you run Microcon, you strip out some Microbraille formatting data. I
do not know what it would take to bring the data back into MicroBraille.

This program has been part of the MegaDots code base. There have been
discussions about building it into DBT. In the meantime, I can e-mail this
file to anyone who is interested.

*** Please e-mail me privately *** I know Anne will be upset if there is
any discussion about this on the main list.
