Hi Fina,

You must have been very lucky with the Compaq keyboards you have tried.
That's sadly not our experience here in the U.K.

However, for the benefit of anyone who missed it, I've reposted a
message I sent to the list a few weeks ago which may, just may, offer a
glimmer of hope to some people.

George Bell.

Hi all,

Today, yet again, we hit the problem of the fds and jkl keys not working
for six-key entry. This was on a lap top computer, a Fujitsu 1010
Lifebook to be precise.

Since the client had purchased a package including DBT and embosser, he
wasn't best pleased at the possibility of having to use an external
keyboard.

Cutting a long story short we have discovered, in this particular case
anyway, that if we re-map the six keys to q, w, e, o, p and [, it works
a treat.

To change what keys are used, you need close down DBT, then locate the
duxbury.ini file, which is usually in the c:\windows folder. Open it in
a plain text editor such as Notepad. Look for the line which says:-

ChordKeys=fdsjkl

and change it accordingly - in our case to, "ChordKeys=qweop[" (Without
the quotes)

Oddly enough, we found this to be a more comfortable combination.

So if you do find you can't use six-key entry, try a few alternatives,
usually at the extreme ends of the keyboard.

I make absolutely no guarantees here, but it's worth a try.
