I am pasting in two hopefully helpful bits of info.
They can both be found in the DBT WIN HELP system by
searching for "spatial math" and also "math"

The first from the print handout:
"SPATIAL MATH " is out of this world with DBT.

I would like to share one way I coach doing spatial math in DBT. It really
is so easy that it is like cheating.
      3 3
    + 4 +4
    ----- 3333
      7 7

In summary, USING DBT WIN you will create a blank print document and enter
everything but your math. Then translate to braille and enter your math
information directly utilizing the number pad!

1) CNTRL+N to open a new print document
2) Choose print document and press enter. You should now be in a blank
print file.
3) ALT+L to open the layout menu
4) M to open the math code menu
5) enter key, this will put you in "technical context". In English this
means you are working on a Nemeth document.
6) Type in all your text etc leaving some blank space for your math
problems. When finished.
7) Control+T to translate your print file into braille.
8) Put your NUM LOCK on. Then use the number keys, space bar, ENTER, and +
- * / (arithmetic function) keys to enter your math.

Hint #1 you will want to use the "3" key to get your dot 2,5 lines

Hint #2 if you go to VIEW and choose full page you get a better idea of the
layout of the math on the full page while you are keying it in.

Hint #3 you can use search and replace to replace multiplication and
division signs with dot product, cross product, line between dots division
sign as you please.

Also you may want to visit the yahoo groups archives for
"dux101t" and "dux101g" for short little questions and answers on many
topics DBT. These are old but still very useful.

The second is from the DBT WIN HELP system. It can be found by opening up
HELP TOPIS and searching for MATH:

Math
Notes
In this section of the tutorial, we describe only the basic use of DBT
itself for entering and translating math. For an easier way to enter math
"visually," using a separate program called Scientific Notebook (a product
and trademark of MacKichan Software), see section 1.1 of the Topical How-To
Guide document (under Help). Also see section 1.0 of that document for a
more complete technical description of math handling within DBT.

Only certain translation tables support translation to mathematics braille
-- among them the English (both the American and British variants, and
Unified) and the French. See the "Translation Tables Usage Guide" for a
definitive list as to which tables do support math.

How To Handle Math For Braille Translation
Translating print to math is not very difficult. We'll start by translating:

a2 + b2 = c2 (where each 2 is at the exponent level, i.e. "squared")

1. If you aren't in DBT, open DBT

2. Close any open documents

3. Start a new document

4. Be sure that you are in the coded view

5. From the "Layout" menu, choose "Math Codes: Technical Context" This says,
"I'm going into a math document now."

6. Type "The following is math:"

7. Type the enter key

8. From the "Layout" menu, choose "Math Codes: Technical Notation." This
says, "I'm going into technical notation now because the following is math."

9. Type the letter a

10. From the "Layout" menu, Choose "Math Codes: Power". It's a lot easier if
you use the keyboard. For instance, to select the "power" command, type
ALT-L-M-P

11. Type the number 2

12. Type the right arrow key once. This moves the cursor outside the power
codes

13. Type the plus sign

14. Type the letter b

15. From the "Layout" menu, choose "Math Codes: Power" again

16. Type the number 2

17. Type the right arrow key once

18. Type the equal sign

19. Type the letter c

20. From the "Layout" menu, choose "Math Codes: Power" again.

21. Type the number 2

22. Translate the document

That's it. You've just created math. Other codes are available through the
"Math Codes" menu option and through the "Layout: Code List" option. The
code list also will allow you to enter special characters, such as the
degree mark. Other special characters are also available through the use of
the "Help: Character List" menu option.

Observe:

The translated line may not have translated back to print accurately. Don't
use the translated line as your only proofing tool, as it assumes, in many
cases, that you are in grade 2 braille.

Help! We are sighted so do not use JAWS but want very much to produce
elementary level math work sheets for our daughter. She and I can use
Nemeth on the Perkins but setting up math worksheets of addition,
subtraction and multiplication in the vertical formation is extremely time
consuming for me. Now that we have Duxbury and a Romeo embosser I am
seeking step by step instructions to produce the sheets. Your assistance
would be greatly appreciated.
