Hi,
The shape indicators are only to be used where such shapes are shown in print:
"Explanation
A shape in print can be used to represent its geometric form. The shape symbol
should be used only when a corresponding miniature shape symbol is used in the
printed matter. Shape symbols are also used to represent omitted items or
place-value holders in mathematical expressions. The shape used in print should
be used in braille."

Personally, I believe students shouldn't have to learn different shapes just
because one is used in print for a missing operand or number. Life would be a
lot easier for students just learning 'ing' (dots 3,4,6) for missing numbers
and operands, and dots 4,6 3,6 for missing words/text in terms of learning
symbols of omission.

Subject: [duxuser] UEB shape indicator.
Dear List,
The note I referred state that the shape indicator depends on the number of
edges to indicate in Braille.
Example:
Braille "ED" symbol + 3 indicates triangle.
"ED" Braille symbol + 4 indicate square.
What is the symbol for Rectangle?
There are different types of triangles, how do we differentiate?
Thanking for your kind favour.
