As we often say here in the UK, "The only dumb question is the one you don't
ask".
SWIFT, "Send to Word Immediately For Translation" is a free add on for Word for
Windows, which was initially developed here in the UK, later modified by
Duxbury to become a dot com add-in, and recently fine-tuned back here by a
programmer who is also a screen reader user.
Initially, it allowed you to open the active Word file in DBT. You could
simply open in DBT's text editor, or emboss direct. It used whatever default
setting your DBT was set to.
You could build one or more Acronym tables within SWIFT in Word, and have them
applied as acronyms in Word. DBT would then automatically add the letter sign.
SWIFT has since become more advanced, and now for example you can "Map"
user-defined Word Styles to DBT Styles.
You might not want the whole of a Word document in braille for a variety of
reasons. Now you can highlight one or more areas of text in your Word
document, and only have those in DBT when you go there.
If you use Word a lot, try it. It's free.

Before you install SWIFT Version 4, please make sure you have DBT 11.3 (SR1).
Once installed, when you run Word, you should find a "Braille" item has been
added to the ribbon.
First time round, you will be asked to complete an Options dialog. If you are
not sure what to answer, or wish to make changes later, you will still be able
to recall Options and make any changes.
Now review Help: To do this, hold down the Alt key, press the better b and
release. Now type the letters t and h. You should now be in a standard
Windows Help screen.
Hopefully you will then be able to review what you can do with SWIFT.
