Yes, there is a significant difference between the data format used for files between versions 10.5 and version 10.6.

This means that a native 10.5 file needs to be altered to work with 10.6. Further, the modified file cannot work with 10.5. So, Duxbury DBT is asking you "what do you want to call the fixed up 10.6 file?"

If all the computers you used had 10.5, this would not be an issue. But then you would not have access to the features of 10.6.

One solution is to install version 10.6 SR4 (now on our website) which will save as a 10.5 style file. By using 10.6 SR4, it is possble to swap files back and forth. But you need to be aware of the different file formats,
and you need to keep track of which file you give to which computer.

Dave, If I try to open a file when in Duxbury 10.6 it asks me to rename the file and it gives an example. I am wondering if there is something to fix this so I can just go to a file like I would if using 10.5. Thanks.

Could you please give a description of what you are doing or what window is open when "10.6 wants me to rename files"?

I would love to help, but with this description, I am clueless.
