[duxuser] Re: a question for George and anyone else using Index embossers

Dear Steve,

Thanks for the info. I want to use it with a BrailleNote Mpower and I need something which doesn't require a Windows drivers. Humanware wants about $200 for their USB to parallel adapter and I refuse to pay the price!

I've ordered the infrared to parallel adapter Enabling Technologies has and hopefully, it will work with the BNMP. It only costs $62.00, which is a more reasonable price.

Teri,

I don't remember the model number, but if you go to www.newegg.com you'll find it by searching for parallel/usb converters. You'll find a few, but the one you want costs about $15. It comes with the necessary drivers, but you won't need them unless you're running Windows 98 or earlier. For XP, you just plug in the cable and you're good to go.

Don,

I got one for half that price at Newegg.com, and it worked great. They had them even cheaper, but I didn't want to gamble.
