Hello Sandra it is me Kathleen again. I was wondering how you can keep 10.5 and also down load 10.6. I tried to down load 10/6 but I had a little problem on down loading. But I am going to try again on Tuesday. Do you use jaws. I use 6.0 in jaws. You were saying that you are going to be a Braille transcription. How far have you got on becoming a Braille transcription. I am also planning on becoming a Braille transcription from my house. I got to only do the final so I can get my certificate in Braille transcription. Maybe we can keep in touch by e-mailing back and forth to each other. That's why I would like to take the class so I could be able to learn as much as I could by using the Braille embosser. They send no material. It is text lesson with quite a few demonstration videos with alternative JAWS version for visually impaired students. You download the assignment material for the lesson and save it in Documents; then you import it into your Duxbury 10.5 program. (The 10.5 program which I purchased remained separate from my later 10.6 upgrade, and I kept it in my computer for this class.) Then you do the assignment as instructed at the end of each lesson, save it, and then email it back to the teacher in the body of the email and/or as an attachment. They have the material scheduled for one assignment a week, but because it is self-paced, I am setting my own schedule. I have spent the last two weeks doing two a week and am finishing up lesson 4 today. The first four lessons seem to have most of the information for literary transcription. I am setting up a home transcription business and still have a lot to do on the business end of it, so from now on I will probably slow down to one lesson a week. There is a deadline for the end of your course so you have to keep that in mind. I am copying the lessons and quizes and saving them for my future reference. I then edit and bold print the important points in what I saved. From what I have experienced so far with the first four lessons, it is worth the money. As I have stated in a past email posting, I never could have gotten this information on the software just poking around in the help menu. Don't be sorry for asking a lot of questions. That is what this group is for. I have been so totally ignorant of the software up until now that I am glad I have some answers about something to pass on to someone else.
