Don't forget! If you use a set of language accent marks it is helpful to the braille reader to include a special symbols page containing all the marks used. You can't assume that the students will know for sure what these marks represent. I also found it helpful to some students and teachers to include a print special symbols page naming the different accent marks and the braille dots that compose them. This can help teachers untangle any confusion that students encounter.

In the case of a book containing just a few foreign words, it is still appropriate to use the generic accent mark (dot four) and to write the words in uncontracted braille. If this approach is used, be sure to include it on a special symbols page.
