If your friend has a computer with a small amount of RAM it may be time
to upgrade it, also check that the clipboard is empty, you can
accumulate a large amount of data in there - if she frees up the space
it may help.

Yes, it has happened to me and I find it necessary to close several 
applications that have just been minimized.  Alternatively, I just close
and 
then restart DBT.
