I am taking this splendid opportunity to let all on this list know that
the Optacon is still alive and well. It is still repairable and it can
still be purchased. There is an active user email list currently engaged
in an initiative to preserve the only device ever manufactured which
allows print to be read in real time in its real layout and without any
kind of pre-scanning to distort it. In other words, things like actual
envelopes, labels, checks, signatures, and a hot of other things can be
read to verify their accuracy and for the information they contain.
If anyone on this list would like to know more about the Optacon, please
write to me OFFLIST. Thank you.
