[p] is the new paragraph command, and [es~para.] is a style that opens with the 
new paragraph command and closes with the "break line if text on line" command. 
 It is better to use a style than to use the constituent commands directly, 
because a style saves keystrokes and also gives you status line information 
that wouldn't otherwise be there.
