Hi Jo,

I'm George, and I definitely do not wear a skirt! (Smile) For my
sins, I author the Help files.

I'm based in the U.K., but generally speaking, Duxbury questions are
similar world-wide.

You'll find that Duxbury also has Context Sensitive Help. If you find
yourself wondering about a menu item, highlight it, and press F1. An
appropriate topic should pop up.

If you are using Word, my honest advice would be to learn about Word's
Styles, and how to adapt them for your own needs if necessary. When
you have a Heading for example, apply an appropriate Heading # Style
in Word. Do NOT for example, simply centre text and make it bold. If
you do not like Word's Styles for print purposes, you can modify them.
As you get to know Word better, you will find that you can create
Templates for Large Print Users, thus saving a great deal of work in
that area.

And for Duxbury and Braille, these Styles are used to convert the text
into appropriate braille formatting. So a Heading 1, will be centred
with a blank line underneath. Heading 2 and above will begin in cell
5, with a blank line before it.

Once you've mastered the concept of Styles, you will find producing
things like a Table of Contents becomes a few seconds work in Word.
The same principals apply when you want to produce a ToC in Braille.

As you become more confident, you'll hopefully become more
adventurous, and have questions, That's where this list can be a
great asset, and we can all learn. So don't be afraid to ask, even if
you think it might be a stupid question. The only really stupid
question, is the one you don't ask.

All the best,

George (Bell)

Ah, ha! But Jo is not a male! But...she has appreciated all of the
responses she's gotten! Someone on this list mentioned "George" and I
don't know who that is. If George has lots of do's and don't's for
working with Duxbury would she please tell me where I can locate them!
I'm learning as I go and wondering around in the help menu so, thank
you all.
