Hi Nadine,

I have to confess that I'm somewhat confused at to what exactly it is that you
wish to achieve.

Are you trying to ink print text on something like a cover page, and then go
back and emboss braille to correspond with the words on the cover Page?

If so, what equipment are you trying to do this with? (A single sheet printer
and embosser are best for this job) And do you have sighted help at hand?
Meantime, I'll try to briefly explain what we do here.

You will need to start by deciding how large you want the print font to be. Go
to DBT's Global menu, and select Fonts. Select the font you want to use from
the list of available fonts. Uncheck the box marked, "Auto-determine point
size for printed output". Now enter, a "Print point size for printed output".

The next part of the exercise is pretty much one of "juggling".

You MUST do the print first. No hard and fast rules here, just plain word
processing techniques to position print on the page to look good, and print out
a small number of copies to experiment with at the next stage. Save your file,
for example "CoverP1.dxp". (meaning Cover Print number one). Now with that
same file still open, I suggest you do a "Save As", and save is perhaps as
"CoverB1.dxp" (meaning Cover Braille number one)

Working with the B1 file, adjust the text add blank lines, etc., and translate.
Emboss it, and see how it lines up in relation to your print version. Add or
delete lines as required in the text version of the file until you get the
desired result. Save you final version of "coverB1.dxp".

All things being equal, you will hopefully have created two templates. One for
print, the other for braille.

To produce the second set of covers, open "Coverp1.dxp", and Save As
"CoverP2.dxp". Alter the text accordingly, print the file, and save. Do the
same with "CoverB1.dxp", saving as "CoverB2.dxp", translating, embossing and
saving.

Or are you trying to do what DBT calls "Interline Print"?

That is to say that you INK print braille, with the text of the braille line
printed above.

If that is what you want, Translate your file, Then you go to File: Print, and
make sure that you check the box marked "Interline Print".
