usual. Like you I always hit the agree button but often have no idea what I’m

Welcome back to Cork Tech Club Live. I'll be your host again this week to
bring you through the drama, the tears, the tantrums and technology.
The following people were in attendance Ken Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha
Parkinson, Noreen Meagher, Jackie McBrearty, Dominique Farrell, Martin
Kelly, Cearbhall O'Meadhra, Derry Walsh, Pat Walsh, Sean Kavanagh and Clare
Cassidy.
We had sorries from Gavin Allman, Gavin you missed some mighty crack.
This meeting started with drama and whimpers. We were all hyped up with
yesterdays HSE ransom attack so we had visions of being taken over by
Russian Vampires. We sorted out our issues with our very own little
superhero in tights Declan. It must be said at no point were we under attack
by any vampires.
Now we'll begin our discussion of technology and technology type stuff.
Seems Declan dropped in Martin thanked him on the instructions he gave on
putting a shortcut of zoom onto the dessktop. It has worked a treat for
Martin.
Martin also brought up the new thing with Whatsapp and having to accept the
terms and conditions. Martin was just told swipe to accept and all will be
grand. I personally always hit agree even though I have no clue what I'm
agreeing to.
Still with Whatsapp martha reported back on her quiz group call. If you all
recall from last week Martha had difficulty with making a group call with
her quiz group, some people could not join the call. So we asked martha to
test a group call by adding each person one by one. This worked a treat for
Martha and the gang. Cearbhall suggested that Martha compile all her findings
and email whatsapp and tell them. Martha and Pat Walsh will be further
testing the one by one group call and will then report their findings.
Pat Walsh, has issues with an attachment and the fact jaws will read to a
certain point then it comes across as gibberish, I don't believe a solution
was given on this issue, well I can't remember if there was any. Martha has
taken up Japanese, just sadly us mere mortals on the list is unable to
translate it. Its looking like an outlook issue, if Martha replies to an
email at times it goes strange but creating an new email works grand.
Jackie told us all about her new toy. Jackie has taken possession of an Orbit
20+ which fell off the back of a passing lorry. Once Jackie fully learns to
read she'll be able to use the device better but at the moment she has it
connected to her phone and is getting on well with it.
Cearbhall was listening to a book via book share on his iPhone.When he wanted
to stop the book it seemed impossible, so he had no choice but knock book
share out of the app switcher. When all else fails the app switcher is
generally the way to go.
Chris was extremely happy with the excellent support he received from two
tech genius's during the week, Jackie and Ken both were helping Chris
connect his laptop with zoom. Chris also rang the microsoft support on be my
eyes and they gave him the sighted help Jackie and Ken couldn't do virtually
or even physically. Now to extend this story pardon the pun but Chris bought
a TP link extender for his man cave, he calls it his office but its his man
cave. Cearbhall being Cearbhall was so interested in how this TP link works
so Chris explained. When he brought the TP link home he plugged it in beside
his router and on both devices he pressed the WPS button. Once lights flashed
the right colour both devices were conected. Chris then unplugged the TP link
and brought it closer to his man cave. The reception quality from Chris today
was simply outstanding. So all was good in Camp Chris this morning.
Clare was telling us about ordering an apple watch series 6, a iPhone 12max
128gig and iPad pro 256gig. Clare is looking forward to getting her new
devices.
Martin shared about the events he has been attending on zoom. Its Seen and
Unseen whereby he gets to galleries all over the place. All this is done
virtually. When there is a Seen Unseen event taking place Martin will get a
tactile version of the picture so he'd be able to follow along. Martin did
physically attend these events before covid and he enjoyed them. This seems
like such a great initiative.
