Apologies: Stuart
We wish Stuart and Martin the best of luck in the tennis Olympics
tomorrow
By the way, there will be No tech club next Saturday 29th. of April.
We had a very small exclusive group today enjoying a bit of banter and
good humour about coins and other donations being dropped unexpectedly
on people waiting with white sticks and guide dogs.
Ken keeps automatic updates turned off but found that IOS 16.4.1
changed the setting and left his automatic update turned on. So, users
beware! If you want to keep this setting turned off, check the setting after
each update.
Jackie found that the shutdown option was not available when she
attempted to shut down her laptop running Windows 11. She could not
find any way to fix this even after restarting the computer. Perhaps
this is a case for tech support in Microsoft?
Cearbhall has joined the latest Hable1 Challenge. Jackie recently took
part and won the competition, well done Jackie! She is encouraging
Cearbhall to go mad as possible and do his best to win.
Jackie has spent the week trying, without success, to resolve the
fact that Tesco keeps reporting that her account is offline when she goes
shopping.
However, the app in the iPhone has no problem and allows her purchases
to complete as normal. Tesco's support has proved very poor and unable
to go further than the basics. She is now waiting to hear from a more
senior person to resolve the difficulty.
Ken received a message that a an unauthorised sum had been deducted
from his account with AIB. He was able to freeze his card until he
could talk to AIB next day. After resolving the issue, he clicked
"unfrozen" in the app but there was no confirmation to say whether he
was successful or not. Sighted assistance could see that there was
confirmation but Voiceover could not find it. He finds that he AIB app
is very accessible in other respects but very difficult in the management of
the card.
Everyone reported that scam texts are coming in fast and furious
lately. Some are so clever that they are exactly the same as a genuine
message. An interesting point to note is that AN Post always
identifies itself by joining the two words with initial capitals as
in "AnPost" whereas scams usually show the company name in two words
separated with a space.
The recent announcement from NCBI that a medical certificate is
needed to make use of the "Transport For Ireland" service is not
correct. TFI is preparing a new announcement to clarify the situation.
Martin advised that there is a ticket machine at each end of the Luas
platform which has a call button that allows a passenger to request
assistance upon arrival. This includes assistance between various
transport systems.
The meeting ended.
All the best,
Cearbhall
