Welcome to another TechClub from Cork, narrated by Lady W.
The following people were in attendance: Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan,
Noreen Meagher, Jackie McBrearty, Stuart Haxell, Cearbhall O'Meadhra, John
Chambers, Paul Griffith and Martha Parkinson.
Martin Kelly sent his apologies.
Cearbhall was discussing a new phone offer by something called 48 which is
â¬10.99 it piggy backs on the three network. Cearbhall will report back to
the list when he has updates. Chris mentioned GoNo, sorry I mean GoMo Chris is
very happy with his service and part from one time his bill is always the same.
Jackie brought up a teams issue she had during the week. Stuart agreed as all
people attempting to join a particular teams call all had the same issue when
clicking on the link. it was agreed Zoom rules all.
Ken was asking about the pages app, Ken is wanting to print out a large
document. It was suggested by a few people to look for share however, when Ken
did this he could not find print, Stuart suggested looking for more and Ken
found print in here.
Paul had a wee zoom issue, he had been muted, pressing alt A failed to unmute
him. in the end Paul exited the meeting and when he came back all was good.
Many suggestions were given as it was thought something had fallen asleep and
therefore the focus had left zoom.
Cearbhall told us all about a new app called google duo. Its an communication
app that works on both android and IOS. Fangs and fur will attempt to test
features out and report to the group at a later date, this is a link for the app
https://apps.apple.com/ie/app/google-duo/id1096918571
Paul spoke about the retina event last Saturday. Everyone said it was well
organised and the catch up email that came out was very well laid out. We all
said how we couldn't seem to find the agenda but all in all it was a very good
event.
Paul spoke about siri and how unreliable it has become everyone agreed with
this as the quality of siri's services has reduced over each update.
Paul wanting to be a wild life photographer asked about taking photos either
of the deer or doing a selfie with a stag. Jackie told him that basically the
photo he wants to take comes up on the screen and if he wants the selfie then
he just needs to flick the camera to front facing.
Stuart told us about cleanfeed its something like zoom. currently at the moment
it does not have an app. Stuart found the audio quality very good, he also
found it fairly accessible as he only needed to give permission to use the
microphone.
Jackie told us all about purchasing an electric frying pan, she will report
back on the accessibility of the yoke thats of course she survives using it.
It wouldn't be a TechClub without mention of aftershockz headphones. It was
agreed on platforms such as zoom and teams its not the best quality but in
being out and about with talking to people, using GPS apps, listening to audio
books and if your tone deaf listening to music its great.
Cearbhall mentioned stuff on audio channels and how there was different audio
channels for different things, Ken said when using the phone withou earphones
he's finding the person on the other end is quite low. This was to do with
audio channels but at this point my eye glazed over so perhaps Cearbhall could
explain it better.
We then started discussing formatting on word and everyone that uses it said
they disliked the ribbons. John uses a text thing that he would have used on
developing websites, he finds this very good.
The meeting ended
