Welcome to another instalment of the Cork Tech Club. The note taker for this
morning/afternoon is me Lady W.
We had 13 Participants.
Jackie started us all off with her excitement on winning the hable one Braille
Bluetooth Keyboard. The challenge that she took part in was in association with
Sight and Sound. Jackie said the challenge was interesting and she enjoyed
making strange videos that generally included a Banana, a easter egg, a box and
monkey. The Hable one is a very small keyboard that allows the user input text
and control the phone using Braille commands. Jackie said this keyboard is a
life changer as it means she can control the phone while out and about when the
phone can remain in the pocket. Naturally Jackie will be wearing headphones as
well.
You can find out more about the Hable at this link.

Jackie asked Stuart had he gotten his Wifi sorted. Stuart confirmed that
finally the wifi was in the chosen company is Eir and due to potential legal
action the conversation ended.
Jackie on a roll asked people did they receive an email from zoom. This email
said about reductions in paid accounts, the email stated that the one to one
calling will now also be in a 40min mode in the free version. This is the
sentence from the email: Beginning May 2, 2022, your 1:1 Free Meetings will
change to a 40-minute time limit.
Paul asked about a disappearing icon on his desktop. just for argument sake
I'll say word. So when Paul attempts to press W word does not appear. Many
suggestions were made from just pressing enter as if there is only one W it
may not say it,Then create a shortcut again and finally go into the recycle bin
and restore it if it has been deleted. Its easy to delete as at times you
don't get a warning that your about to delete something. Ken confirmed this
deleting thing as he had an issue with teams on his laptop and he needed to
delete the teams app. Ken did this with no issue but he just didn't realise he
had done it.
Ken contacted be my eyes microsoft support however, with him being on windows7
they couldn't offer support but the guy still advised Ken.
Martha asked was there a public holiday in the Philippines? as she needs to
contact microsoft support about her laptop.
This piece is painful so forgive the sobs. Pat has two email addresses. There
is an email with a dot and one without a dot. The problem is the one with the
dot is registered with FB exchange but his replies are coming from the one
without the dot. The entire group worked on sorting him out but with no
success. So Pat suggested to Pat to ring the google help on be my eyes. I
personally lost the will to live at this point. Pat will report back on how he
gets on with the google help.
Paul was asking about using the 42 app on his iPhone. Paul continued saying
that when he swipes most of the time voiceover won't read it right. Confusion
happened and reader view was suggested as a possible solution but because Paul
is using an app this reader view isn't an option. Jackie said does the 42 have
read full article with voiceover. This is the safer option, Paul said that this
option was on the 42 app.
Paul was also telling us about his Grand Daughter now uses his iPhone 7. the
fear is that this Grand Daughter could fleece his bank account. The kid
enjoys watching the videos she stars in so Paul was just advised to delete any
apps from the seven that could cause problems. So Paul is removing the bank app
and some other ones that will remain nameless.
Ken was asked about the TV Guide Ireland app that he spoke about last week.
Currently at the moment the fix has not been brought out. We believe this is
more an apple delay rather than a entertainment.ie delay. Ken urged people to
contact developers if apps stop working.
The different apps that we are having issue came up with Aldi being the main
offender, no one can seem to access that app any more.
Jackie spoke again about her Hable one, just see info above on this Braille
Bluetooth Keyboard.
The conversation went on to cupboards, swimmers and wee Boris's. The crazy
prices of GuideDog insurance was mentioned along with the different foods and
treats we give our dogs.
The meeting ended.
