Welcome to another installment of Lady Whistledowns papers on the Cork
TechClub. In todays meeting the following Ladies, Gentlemen and vampires were
present.
Des Keaney, Pat McCarthy, Ken Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha Parkinson, Noreen
Meagher, Jackie McBrearty, Dominique Farrell, Martin Kelly, Cearbhall
O'Meadhra and Derry Walsh.
Everyone was asking about Paul G. We hear he's recovering well and we all in
the real Capital wish him healing so he can get back to us.
All Things apple got discussed. The latest Watch update can pose an issue if
the Siri voice is getting used as the VO voice. The work around is to not use
siri or use your phone to unlock the watch after its been powered down,
Jackie loudly roared during the week when she had to unpair and then repair
her watch four times. if only she found out this info before all the tantrums.
Dominique will post another fix to the list about deleting siri voices.
Cearbhall and Martha both got SE2020 phones Cearbhall set his up with the
help of his son and Martha's is still in the box.
Cearbhall generally an organised man has a very untidy iPhone with apps all
over the place, so he asked Jackie about moving apps into folders.
1. Find the app you want to move.
2. swipe down to you hear edit, you may need to use the rotor to actions to
achieve this.
3. Swipe down to drag ie Rabbit app.
4. move to the page ie a 3 finger swipe to the left or right depending on
where your at.
5. once you find the app you want to create the folder you'll do your one
finger swipe down and one option you will get is create folder with dogs or
add to animal folder.
Cearbhall also struggled with pairing his bluetooth keyboard. The screen
appeared to be split so VO couldn't read the code. Cearbhall got assistants
to pair.
Jackie asked Cearbhall about the orbit braille reader, her's will soon be
falling off the back of a lorry. Cearbhall went to find out the information,
but at the point of creating these notes no answer was given so Cearbhall
will post the answer to the list. Cearbhall is also posting an answer to a
question posed by Dominique about stopping VO reading Heading level 1,
Heading level 2 and yadda yadda.
Martin Kelly mentioned about a new skill on Alexa called Time stream, it has
good sounds, its for history buffs. Derry you might enjoy it.
Ken asked about zoom. Ken's question was setting up a meeting using the free
version Fangs and fur will test this out. However, Martin Kelly answered our
question and that the same link can be used so Fangs and fur were stood down.
Martin told us about a nifty shortcut he learned about during the week,if you
hit
windows altd and I advanced spelling and grammar. Martin found this fantastic
when he's writing his book on witches.
Then Dominique told us about pulling up the emogies keyboard on Windows. if
you press
Windows and fullstop this will bring up the emogies Keyboard. Then pressing
the space bar or the return key enters the wee pictures.
Ken asked about the RTE player, Ken could be watching something and once he
starts getting into it it buffers, other people reported the same issue.
Chris said how his Niece uses the player on her iPhone as on the iPad she had
the same issue as ken. This then started a conversation about Alexa refusing
to play RTE radio1 at 1pm. Martha told Noreen that if she fails with tune in
radio she opens the Irish radio player skill and she can get it on this. We
could talk to Joe Duffy about this as talking to Joe is good.
It wouldn't be the Cork group without audio books getting mentioned. Ken told
us about how Jackie helped him organise his books into collections. This is a
great way to organise audio libraries.
Jackie created her collections by going into the Library tab on the app,
swipe to collections and swipe to new collection. Then just follow the
instructions and search for either the book title or even easier the author.
Ken also reported that his audible app on the phone no longer signs him out.
It was said his phone is no longer possessed.
Jackie was asked about her windows issue from last week, she reported its no
longer there. Jackie was prompted to sign into windows, even though she has
never needed to do that before. Jackie did not use violence and its suggested
to either use the space bar, enter or alt F4.
Martin informed us all about the events from vision sports that is happening
all week.
AOB.
Everyone was praising Des for his excellent article in the newspaper. This
was a very well written article and very much from the heart. Well done Des
from all at the Cork TechClub.
The End LW.
