Lady W is back in the side-saddle for this mornings antics in Cork. Hold on
tight as we trot and gallop our way through Technical issues.
The following people were in attendance:
Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha Parkinson, Noreen Meagher, Jackie
McBrearty, Dominique Farrell, Martin Kelly, Cearbhall O'Meadhra, Paul
Griffiths, and Pat Walsh.
We had sorries from Gavin Allman.
Chris who was coming live from the cave told us all about an issue with his
borrow box app. Chris selected his book ; The many adventures of Winnie the
Pooh. Voiceover wasn't reading the summery but he could preview the book and
borrow the book. Many suggestions were given and the one that appeared to semi
work was a single finger quadruple tap. This gesture brought him down to the
section with the summery. Chris has the time and the cave to mess around more
with reading the summery of his favourite books.
Pat Walsh, was asking us about the reminders app, I don't know what was the
issue with this app but he wanted another app that would do the same thing. So
Pat did a live test on the native calendar app and he'll also work on this and
see what he can learn.
Pat was also asking about muting jaws while in a zoom meeting. Pat was
directed to press a combination of buttons that include insert, space and S.
This note takers eyes glazed over and in the end Pat was just told to hit or
batter the control key to silence jaws.
Ken was asking about the audible app. During the week Ken was talking to one of
his other friends who was also an audible member, this friend had paused her
membership but the weird thing she was unable to sign out. This baffled the
group and I'm unsure if there was any resolution to the problem as everything
we suggested Ken had told her and still nothing.
The following piece on Be my Eyes may not be fully accurate but this note taker
took delivery of cupcakes. So anyway Ken has issues when he trys to connect
with the specialised help on the Be My Eyes app, once he attempts to connect
they can't hear him and he can't hear them. No one seemed to have the same
issue as Ken accept for the odd connectivity issue that gets resolved after the
person ends the faulty call and reinitiates the call for help. Ken does not
have any issues getting general help so this one puzzled us all. Ken got banned
before as apparently after three failed attempts the developers believe your
up to no good and you get banned from the app. We know Ken is not naughty we
believe its a connection issue and it was suggested Ken makes contact with the
developers again.
When we started on Microsoft people discussed screens being upside down and the
methods on fixing the issue for our sighted peers who don't have the ability
to read upside down. This note taker heard bla bla bla bla and cupcakes danced
in her head. Perhaps one of the above attendees can explain the keys to press
that will put the screen the right way up again.
Derry wanted to know the number for the AIB special number. So Derry here it
is 1800 207232.
Then a conversation started with muting and unmuting with zoom and teams. This
note taker is biased and states zoom is much easier and cleaner to deal with
than teams.
The meeting ended with innuendos.
All stay safe and upright this week and the journey continues next week Live
from the real Capital of Co Cork.
