
Welcome to another addition of the cork tech club minutes written and edited
by Lady W.
The following people were in attendance:
Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan, noreen Meagher, Dominique Farrell, Pat
McCarthy, Jackie McBrearty, Martin Kelly and Cearbhall O'Meadhra.
We had apologies from:

Jackie kicked off this week with news her bluetooth keyboard died, well the
letters B and N stopped working. Jackie is a big believer in buying cheap as
they always get dropped, stepped on, kicked and sat on. So a wee visit to
Harvey Norman saw Jackie purchasing a Trust bluetooth keyboard for â¬20.
Jackie started to sniffle at this point with the news the amazon app wasn't
working during the week. When you went into an item to either buy or read
details Voiceover wouldn't read anything. The app is back working again. To
test this theory Jackie looked up dog food and worryingly this food comes with
a warning: "Warning:Not suitable for children under 36 months" now I'm
assuming older children could eat it.

Jackie annoyingly on a roll this morning told us all about an Email she
received from microsoft. This was asking her to renew her subscription to
Microsoft 365. Jackie Rang the Microsoft support on be my eyes and they were
unclear if this was a scam email. The agent looked up Jackie's details and they
said she was already subscribed and auto renew was on. It was suggested just to
delete the email and Microsoft is investigating if its a genuine email. If its
a fake its a very convincing one.
The virtual floor has been open to others with issues as Jackie is muted for
now.
Ken started us off talking about an issue his sister had during the week. Ken
wanted to know had it happened to anyone else or did people know what happened.
Ken's sister rang her friend Barbie but when she rang her it rang Cindy
instead. When his sisster checked her contacts Barbies number was in Cindy's
contact.
Pat was wondering was it anything to do with the annoying bug on IOS15 that
when calling someone from the recent call log it will jump to someone else's
number. A number of people has the same issue.
Ken and Pat also heard of a strange bug with IOS15 where photos gets deleted.
none of the other members had heard about this bug.
Pat asked Jackie about her tesco app issue, she said its still there but no
where near as bad as it was.
Jackie and pat then spoke about the Aldi app and the fact with voiceover on it
tells you your off line. Aldi have been made aware of the issue but haven't
made any effort to fix the issue. The only way to access the app is to turn off
voiceover and ask siri to open the Aldi app, if siri is in the mood he'll open
it and then turn on voiceover again.
In relation to shopping apps Martin asked about which Lidl app should he
download. Jackie said there was two apps but the one he needed was Lidl+ and
he'd get offers in store.
Cearbhall mentioned about his voiceover issue whereby he couldn't hear
voiceover during a meeting. Cearbhall was advised to use the volume on the
Rotor and this will increase the VO volume rather than call volume.
Cearbhall also spoke about the new settings available with some earphones
where you can have voiceover in the right ear and the audio on the left. This
can be found in settings, accessibility, voiceover and audio. When in here and
if using Aeropex by aftershokz, you look for SPEECH CHANNELS (AEROPEX BY
AFTERSHOKZ.
This started another wee chat about certain speaker and headsets won't bring VO
through them for reasons unknown to Lady W. Perhaps someone else can fill in
the gaps.
Jackie spoke about using soundscape to find a shop, she said: "I was very
impressed with it, as i was really close to the shop when it said its name"
We then started a lengthy conversation about the various headphones on the
market. Noreen or Derry don't use headphones to the extent of the rest of us.
The conversation continued with talk of sacks and containers to hold people's
rubber bits. Everything got a bit R rated but we all agree when out walking its
vital we can hear traffic and audible signal on traffic lights.
Ken asked did anyone download any new apps lately. There was a few no's, but
Jackie said about a game she downloaded called pyramid13. This is a card game
that you need to make the number 13 by using two cards. Jackie said the game is
rubbish but she loves it and finds it a great way to waste time instead of just
sitting there it keeps the mind active.
Cearbhall and Martin spoke about the virtual tours in the different art
galleries. It all sounded really interesting.
The meeting ended with different cork radio stations and where to watch or
listen to sport. We all agreed that the radio is fantastic for football, GAA
and tennis to mention but a few.
