Well told,Lady a!
The option:
Use NVDA during sign-in (requires administrator privileges)
Is in General settings in NVDA. Youwould need to make yourself an administartor
to allow this change to happen.
However, if you uninstal NVDA and reinstall it, this option is there in the
initial setup dialog.
All the best,
Cearbhall

Subject: [fb-exchange] Cork TechClub Saturday 6th August.
Good Morning World.
This morning nine brave individuals entered the virtual rooms of the Cork Tech
Club.
Clare started us all off asking what would keep her phone dry if she went
canoeing. It was echoed by quite a few a water proof bag, pouch or coat pocket.
Professor Cearbhall started his NVDA clinic at this point with quite a few
questions from NVDA newbies.
Ken was asking about pressing the return key and NVDA not saying new line.
the Professor went off to investigate and when he came back it was decided to
press the enter key, then up arrow and it will say blank and then down arrow
again and continue typing.
Jackie wanted to change the bang to exclamation mark. So the professor
suggested 1. NVDA Key and the letter N.
2. preferences and right arrow.
3. Down arrow to Speech dictionary and right arrow again to default dictionary.
4. press enter on this.
5. Tab to add and press enter or space bar.
6. enter bang or shift and the number 1, tab and then spell out the word
exclamation mark and tab to OK.
7. Tab again to OK and then the bang will now say exclamation mark.
Lady W note: " when you press shift and 1 NVDA will still say bang but reading
it back will say exclamation mark"
further Lady W note: "These instructions are for NVDA only"
Joanne wanted to know how to start NVDA talking on start up, so the following
will do this task.
1. NVDA key and N
2. you'll be on preferences, right arrow to settings.
3. you'll be on general so tab over to Use NVDA during sign in, check this box
and tab to OK.
Lady W note: "I was looking for start NVDA on the start up screen but couldn't
find it".
Paul brought siri into the mix. The problem he was having didn't show itself
when he demonstrated it so we were all clueless. a number of attempts were
made to find the closest Supermacs and even though Paul is in a place call
Dublin it still pointed out his nearest Supermacs was in Cork.
Cearbhall was having voiceover and zoom issues, our little eager beavers made
some suggestions to attempt to help, the furry tailed Jackie who was off
playing with her phone told him to.
1. hold in the volume up button at the side of his phone.
2 twiddle those fingers on the screen to volume and turn it down low.
3 then still with your finger on the volume up button swipe up and increase VO
volume.
Cearbhall said this appeared to work.
It wouldn't be a Cork tech club without Aftershokz being mentioned.
Ken made the point if he uses his aftershokz are connected to his phone then he
wants to switch to his iPad nothing happens. Jackie echoed this same issue.
Joanne and Cearbhall both said holding in the volume up and volume down
buttons with your thumb should switch between both devices.
Lady W note "this will be tested and reported back on"
Jackie was telling us about an issue she faced when trying to log into
Mywelfare.ie and the log in button didn't appear. When she turned on screen
recognition the log in button appeared. Jackie is following up on this issue.
The meeting ended with the merits of Baked Alaska Ice-Cream.
