Subject: [fb-exchange] Cork TechClub September 11th.
Its that time of the week again when Lady W entertains and confuses you in
the Cork TechClub.
Lady W was joined by;
Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha Parkinson, Noreen Meagher, Pat
McCarthy, Jackie McBrearty, Dominique Farrell, Stuart Haxell,Gavin Allman,
John Chambers, Cearbhall O'Meadhra, Paul Griffith and Pat Walsh.
Jackie reported back on an issue from last week with emails from NCBI going
into the spam or junk folders. This was an issue they were made aware of by
quite a few people making contact. Apparently the issue was about an email
being sent out that shouldn't have been sent out using something non NCBI
approved. Lady W was not made aware of what was use and what was sent and she
didn't question it for fear of being cursed. Google demoted the NCBI for two
weeks so hence the junk mail for the NCBI. The issue should be sorted now
though, its still advised for people to check their junk folders just encase.
Pat was asking about bone conducting headphones. Pat wanted to know can these
Headphones be gotten with wires. It was thought that yes they can so further
research will be carried out.
Jackie wined about her memory card in her Orbit coming up with an message
saying "SD Error 7" all this was googled and the outcome was just buy a new
card and toss the other one away.
Paul had issues with Emails. I had kinda switched off so not sure what the
issue was but the answer was: hit shit tab a few times and go to archive
options and settings then change archive options to never.
Dominique informed us about the Apple event on Tuesday the 14th at 6pm Irish
time. Then also on Tuesday there is a dude coming on the NCBI labs yoke talking
about Alexa. Dominique said she is asking about her device does not have the
male voice, this fella is called ziggy. Jackie played a sample of ziggy and
also of her google home voice. Jackie said "I don't find ziggy any good, he
never listens, I guess its a male thing". This then started a very
interesting conversation about looking up words. You really needed to be at the
club to get how funny it actually was. Needless to say Jackie was the
instigator so that never ends well.
Pat W told us of an issue with replying to Emails. When he presses control R on
outlook it comes up with something not being available. When he goes out and
comes back its grand the second time. I'm not sure what the outcome of this was.
Martha said that voiceover and outlook is quite wonky. voiceover seems to loose
focus and float around. A few other Members reported the same issue on
different apps. Its hoped IOS15 will sort this issue out.
Paul asked how could he get an Jpeg file read on his iPhone. Ken took him
through the steps which are as follows:
1. open attachment.
2. double tap on share.
3. recognise with something ie Sullivan+, seeing AI etc.
Paul has reported back saying the advice he received worked a treat. Its so
good having a happy camper.
Cearbhall claimed that Jackie slightly recked his head with braille questions.
Cearbhall did discover it was either impossible or pricey to get printed
braille material from NCBI. Jackie is singing the praises of braille at the
moment as she is enjoying using her Orbit 20+.
Gavin has joined the world of Gomo, his price is meant to be €12.99 but its now
€20. Chris told him to check his bill and then contact Gomo and they will sort
it out.
Pat W wanted to know what SMS stood for and Stuart said Short messaging service.
Martha told us about her Drama with audible. Martha had changed her aircode on
amazon. When she attempted to purchase her book about fluffy handcuffs it said
she needed to update her details. This was attempted when in the end Martha
rang audible. They confirmed everything was ok their end. So Martha closed
audible out of the app switcher and this solved the issue.
It wouldn't be the Cork group without books coming up. The new audible+ library
was praised along with French toast, Brazil nuts, Bonsai trees and the
uselessness of French doors.
The meeting ended with Lady W weeping with bloodied fingers knowing that once
this email is read she'll be dumped into the trash never to be looked at again.
Lady W soon to be Deleted.
