Welcome to the Cork TechClub. We had 9 participants this morning. Lady W will
bring you through the fun and frolicking. Dominique sang us all into this
mornings meeting with "we are one" Ireland's euro vision entry.
The conversation started with the latest update to seeing AI that will help a
person navigate inside a building. This new feature is like the app Clew. The
conversation ceased at this point to find the correct spelling for Clew. Chris
said C L E W quite a few times before we agreed with him. Pat said he preferred
Clew. We all hope that this new feature of seeing AI will improve with future
updates. Joanne suggested to feedback to Microsoft with any issues so they can
improve it.
Jackie then shared a story about her experience of setting her mum up with
Eir online. Just at this point four pigs flew across the sky singing their
rendition of "simply the best". Jackie also started choking at this point
as she said how impressed she was with eir and how accessible the entire
process was from start to finish. There was no accessibility issues. The online
account was getting set up as Eir will soon be charging €5.99 to receive a
paper bill.
Jackie also told us about downloading the app Zuzanka. This app reads used by
dates on products. Once a person gets used to where the dates are located its
actually a decent app. Jackie paid €23 for a life time subscription.
Joanne asked about colour identifiers. seeing AI, TapTapSee and envision were
mentioned as viable options but these can't be relied on for accuracy. Jackie
told Joanne a friend of her's had a hand held colour identifier and this
worked well. Joanne will contact the NCBI shop to enquire. Chris told us about
his colour identifier which also verbally abuses him when he puts on the pink
trousers.
Ken was saying when he slaps his mothers alexa she doesn't start or stop audio.
Jackie said thumping her only works if something is playing. So Ken tried it
again and this time it worked However, its the writers opinion more force was
used to slap the device than was necessary.
Cearbhall told us about changing to Virgin media for his wifi and he was very
impressed with his speeds. There is three extenders in the house.
Ken told us about an issue with his app store. When he goes into it and he's
checking for updates,it just says loding, loading, loading. When Ken tried it
live of course it worked perfectly but when he did it again the same loading
came up. Refreshing didn't work, closing it via the app switcher didn't work
just after a few seconds, minutes or hours it comes back again. We had no other
answers for this.
Paul asked us about incognito mode and should it be on or off. There is some
very odd people in this group and it was suggested if your looking for
something dodgy then best to have it on but otherwise keeping it off is OK as
well.
A focus issue came up with lists. This varied between radio stations, emails,
audio books. voiceover appears to be in the middle of the list and doing the
various methods of getting to the start of lists doesn't work. This was yet
another baffler.
A loading issue with emails was also an issue for everyone. we all thought it
was an IOS16 issue but Pat said its happening on his iPod with IOS15.
The iCloud was spoken about in great detail. Dominique was getting an error
message when she tried turning on the iCloud back up. We urged her to ring
apple care after the rugby and get it sorted out. Then Cearbhall showed us a
message he had in settings. This message was asking him to confirm his
passcode. We then discovered Cearbhall needed to update his passcode. Once this
was done the message disappeared. So Cearbhall was one happy little chicken.
Paul asked Jackie what app she used for food that required the code. Jackie
said Uber eats. Jacki has only ever ordered KFC. Jackie uses just eat all the
time. This app is accessible and it now does apple pay.
Ken told us about the text his sister received from Bank of Ireland saying her
card was frozen as there was unusual activity. The sister then got two phone
calls but as she thought all these were scams she ignored them. The sister did
ring the bank and she found out it was real, the card had been cloned randomly
and not on any website. A new card is being issued.
The meeting ended and we all had thoughts of different types of chickens.
