Welcome to Lady Whistledown's summery of the going ons in the Cork tech
club.

Lady Jackie kicked off the proceedings with telling us all about her new
trucker headset. Lady Jackie was bored and decided to get a new set of
earphones that would enable her safely drive a lorry after restrictions and
the law changes.The headset was purchased on amazon and the sound quality is
quite good the Brand of them are Funtuan.
it hasn't been tested yet with lorry driving. The link for the headset is
below. This discussion started people talking about different types of
headphones and it was echoed by everyone bone conducting ones were the way
to go for safety while out and about.

Lady Jackie also brought up an issue she had with microsoft she was unable
to
sign in to her 365, so she rang microsoft support on be my eyes. Microsoft
tried everything and in the end they believed that Jackie's profile was
corrupt and would need to be redone, so with allot of whimpering and
howling
the problem was sorted without any profiles needing re-done. Lady Jackie
is
unsure how things got sorted as all was hopeless on Thursday and a Miracle
happened on Friday and all was back to normal and no laptop got injured as a
direct result.
The floor was opened to every one else then as this note taker needed to hit
mute.
Martin asked a question on layered keys, Cearbhall who got covid jab today
took it upon himself to send a document to the list on what the purpose of
layered keys are.
The next topic which garnered allot of conversation was something Paul
brought up, he mentioned cookies and part from being fattening how annoying
they were because having to accept them every time you enter a webpage. Paul
felt there should be an option to accept them once and even though this is a
good idea the members felt it was in relation to data protection that
cookies must be accepted every time. Dominique and Jackie both agreed
chocolate chip cookies were the best. Des was asking about reading a word
document. when half way down the page and he wants to query a word he finds
it annoying and painfully slow to get to the word in question. When Des
starts reading he does the two finger swipe down so the curser is still at
the top. A number of suggestions were made and Chris suggested swiping from
left to right does it in paragraphs and this would make it easier to find
the word. Ken tried this out and it worked for him. perhaps if this note
taker has been inaccurate they could clarify the instructions.
Dominique was telling us about an alert she got for a dreaded windows
update, as she was about to go into a teams meeting she clicked on the
remind me later button However, after the meeting was over Dominique
received no further reminders and when she went into find the update it was
gone. People felt that perhaps the update had slipped in the back door and
had come down
anyway. Martin suggested to try the notifications in the task bar and she
might see if there is any updates there windows B.
This brought up the issue that with any major windows update all the little
nice things people had done like setting a browser goes so going to.
windows key and D and change the default settingss.
cearbhall was telling us he had over 20thousand rows in a spreadsheet, in
this spreadsheet there was an error. This was the point the note taker got
lost but from what she could gleam from what he said our very own Einstein
used a formula to find the error in the spread sheet. Cearbhall wooly hats
off to you on that.
Ken brought us back to basics and asked about the notes app. Ken now uses
pages to input his information, he was wondering was there a way to copy all
the notes in one swoop but alas this can not be done so thanks to covid ken
has all the time in the world to copy them over into his pages document.
Pat was telling us all about his new iPhone, he was very happy that the man
in the shop helped him set it up which took allot of stress off him.
Martha got that dreaded alert that her iCloud memory was about to run out so
she was given suggestions on clearing space Ken told her about a thumb drive
he got and he finds it good its called: Leelng flash drive, Martha will
look into this as paying for storage isn't something she wants to do right
now.
Derry was asking about BlindSquare and the benefits of it. This came up from
last weeks discussion on it. Jackie told Derry BlindSquare on its own does
not give turn by turn directions, it will tell you shops and addresses you
are passing but it won't give detail like obstacles or if there is steps or
something new in front of you. BlindSquare is a brilliant app for finding
your exact location and working along with apple maps or google maps it will
give great turn by turn directions.
Clare was asking about what could she use instead of her phone to find out
names of items in her kitchen. Jackie suggested the amazon show, this is
part of the Alexa family of devices as well of it being a speaker it also
has a scream. The show has a feature called show and tell, you ask Alexa
what i'm holding and she will direct you to hold it towards the camera and
she will to the best of her abilities tell you what your holding. Cearbhall
suggested a stand to hold her phone and to work with what Jackie said using
siri short cuts would mean Clare wouldn't need to hold her phone.
Clare was also asking about her non apple earbuds and how would she know
they were charging. Dominique told her to swipe to the right with three
fingers and look at the battery widget and this will give her the levels.
Jackie said this worked with non apple products as well.
Clare was also telling her about her siri who after giving her four
suggestions for pizza base recipes he told her Jamie Oliver would be his
preferred base. This note taker was unable to get her siri to respond in
this manner. Clare was saying how siri and google works together.

Des brought up how the networking focus group has changed its date to the
22nd of April. you must email Roisin by 5pm on the 19th of April to get on
the list.
The real capital loves their books and books generally gets a mentioned both
Ken and Jackie recommended people read the Killers girl they both read this
book after reading the first book one left. alive.
The meeting ended and everyone sailed happily into the distance.
