Martha was greeted with a chorus of questions to know why her message this
morning was full of unreadable characters. It was suggested that she might
be using a character encoding that was not compatible with Windows. Nobody
could explain it at the meeting so a solution might emerge after
investigation.
Dominique wanted to know how to stop JAWS announcing the level and type of
headings. The answer is to press INSERT+F2 to open the list of JAWS
managers. Choose Settings Centre in the list, and press ENTER to launch it.
In the Headings section, deselect "Headings with Levels"
Chris is continuing to experience poor WIFI reception which keeps dropping
out. Despite repeated attempts from service provider Imagine, no answer has
been found.
The meeting heard various reports of problems with Banks not granting loans
and future interest payments accumulating on the grounds of Covid
complications.
Jackie reported that NCBI have advised the bank of Ireland and the
developers of the Covid Tracker apps on the need to make them more
accessible. She was told that the IOS version of the BOI app would be
available in the next few weeks and that the developers were making changes
to improve the accessibility of the Covid Tracker app.
Jackie reported the complete breakdown in her assisted shopping in which the
wrong items were purchased and heavy items were dumped on top of delicate
food items. Noreen was led to remark that Tesco were doing a wonderful job
of delivering her full order every time. It appears that Dunnes is starting
home delivery soon.
Paul has updated his phone to IOS 14.1. He now has problems accessing his
regular TV listing app. Jackie suggested that he use the Sky Q TV app which
is working with IOS 14.
This prompted Jackie, Paul and Derry to open an intensive discussion of
successful access to sports programs using Sky sports on Alexa
Paul found that SIRI cannot open YouTube any more under IOS 14. He has also
lost the "Send" option in the messaging app. The Send button is represented
by a graphical arrow that VoiceOver does not detect. Jackie and Ken gave
detailed instructions on how he might attempt to find the Send button and
relabel it. We will await a successful outcome!
Martha and Chris led an extensive discussion on various energy replacement
solutions including heat exchangers, solar panels combi boilers and the
advantages of triple glazing.
The meeting ended
All the best,
Cearbhall
