Jackie, those are scary notes,
what with books getting stuck in Alexa, people getting turfed out of be my
eyes,
your notes should be read at midnight, under a full moon with the company
of Vampires and howling werewolves!
they are full blooded notes, and very informative, well done.

Subject: [fb-exchange] Cork tech club Sat 25th July
Today's Cork tech club is presented by Jackie McBrearty. It was a busy
meeting and the following is a outline of the discussion.
The participants are as follows: Jackie McBrearty, Ken Walsh, Pat Walsh,
Derry Walsh, Noreen Meagher, Gavin Allman, Martha Parkinson and Marian
Maloney.
We had Apologies from Chris Egon, Pat Walsh and cearbhall.omeadhra.
The Group extends their sympathy to Chris on his family bereavement.
The meeting started with Ken saying about the notification he received
from the Covid trackr app this Morning. This alert came in at 7am and
slightly freaked Ken out as he was sure he had come in contact with
someone with the virus. However, when he read it fully the app was
notifying him he was fit and healthy and had shown no symptoms all week.
Jackie, Noreen and Pat all said they do not receive this exposure
notification. everyone who has the app said they do the daily check in to
say they are symptom free. The app was further discussed in relation to
accuracy with bluetooth and location.
Derry Walsh, was talking about streaming sports, he explained to a friend
about what streaming actually meant. It was explained as live feed, good
wifi is needed. cork county board is not charging but other boards are
possibly charging for streaming matches. it was suggested to go to the
county board website to find the match.its a live feed Ken said allot
of matches are on 103FM.
Derry started a discussion on GPS apps and finding yourself when lost.
People suggested asking siri and blind square was also suggested for
giving more detailed descriptions of your location. Other GPS apps got
discussed but siri and blind square seemed more popular. Marion was asking
about whatsapp, she wanted to know about deleting a group without leaving
it. It was suggested to either archive or mute the group. This is achieved
by swiping down with one finger. The group messages does not need to be
opened this is done with out that.
There was a discussion about the audible app and books in general. so I've
grouped the books discussion into this one piece. The directions was given
on the process of signing in and out of audible accounts.
Then Jackie brought up on buying kindle books and you can buy the audible
companion for allot cheaper. This works out best if you either don't have
a credit or don't want to waste a credit on a shorter book.
Gavin bought a book using apple books and he was directed how to find this
book. our old buddy Siri was called upon again to open the books app. Pat
suggested to search for it in the app store encase it had been
accidentally deleted.
Martha, was having an issue with one of her romance audible books on
Alexa, the book appeared to get stuck and wouldn't go any further. Jackie
said she didn't know if it was a audible or Alexa issue, she had also had
the same problem with quite a few of her vampire werewolves books.
We also chatted about other platforms to listen or read books. Scribt'd
was one such platform Derry has subscribed to this and he is very
impressed. borrow box and book share also got a mention, Pat would use
book share with the voice dream reader.
Jackie said she was having an issue with facebook in that she could not
open group or other status updates using a one finger double tap. The work
around she found is to swipe down to comments do the one finger double tap
and this opens the post. Ken said he had also had this problem in the
past and this was the work around he also found. This then led onto a
natter about dictation. It was agreed that the standard of the dictation
feature can be dodgy. It was noticed that random words and spaces would
be put in.
The meeting continued with talking about adding names and numbers to the
contact app. There is different ways to fill out the details ie, first
name, surname etc. Pat explained about going into the phone settings so if
you have a few contacts with the surname O'Brian then you could have all
the O'Brians together or have first name first so it would go on
alphabetical order IE, John O'Brian and Mary O'Brian would not be with the
O's.
Ken told us he had been blocked from be my eyes. This came about because
of a few attempts to make contact within the app. after the meeting he was
making contact with the developers to find out what happened and to get
himself unblocked.
Ken and Martha both had issues with Gmail during the week. Martha is
having problems signing into windows mail so she will be contacting the
microsoft support on be my eyes to assist her download outlook. Ken and
Martha had sign in issues with google.
Then they all lived happily ever after and the meeting ended.
I hope no one will have Nightmares
Jackie
