Welcome to Saturdays addition of Corks tech club. The willing
participants are as follows:
Jackie McBrearty, Noreen Meagher, Chris egan, Ken walsh, Martha Parkinson,
Gavin allmand, Cearbhall O'Meadhra and Derry walsh.
The topic of social distancing and sneezing into the elbow came up. Noreen
feels very uncomfortable about this and it was agreed that sneezing into an
elbow and sighted guide is not a good combination.
Derry asked Jackie about the virtual reality mobility training she will soon
receive with NCBI. Jackie either believes she will be trialing something
which will benefit everyone or land her under a truck while getting directed
by someone from somewhere. Jackie explained she'll be wearing bone
conducting head phones while wearing a camera that will show a live feed to
a person who will then direct Jackie to her potential maker.
The tech talk started with:
Cearbhall talking about the update he did with borrow box. When the update
was complete it had signed him out. There was some difficulty in signing
back in.Cearbhall got signed in eventually, there was changes in relation to
the location of certain buttons like skipping forward and back but the app
functions as normal. This then followed onto an extensive talk on the long
wait for books on borrow box, Normal People by Sally Rooney was used as a
prime example. The Jury is still out on was the wait worth it.
Ken asked Chris about was there any change on using his radio app. Chris
explained last week that his radio app keeps dropping out. Chris has a dodgy
wifi connection so hopefully on Monday persons from his internet provider
will enter his home and hopefully sort everything out. Eir got mentioned but
because the note taker is not a fan the least said the easiest to deal with
in court.
Chris would use mobile data allot and Martha also said she will be using
mobile data allot for the next wee while.
Jackie was delighted the Journal app was fixed. Ken had to delete the app
and reinstall it after he had updated, Once he had done this Ken was also
delighted. Ken and Jackie both agreed that the comments on the journal is
comical and always better than the actual news story.
Gavin asked about which music provider he should go for, he asked about
amazon music, apple music or spotify. everyone spoke about herself and the
fact that amazon music was €3.99 per month when using it on herself. The
€9.99 per month would enable it be used on the app and other devices.
Spotify also got discussed but Jackie wasn't impressed they only had two
Garth Brookes songs and this was disappointing as just some times you need
to belt out a rendition of Friends in low places.
Apple music was also briefly talked about but amazon music seemed to be the
popular choice. Good luck Gavin with your choice.
Martha, was asking about the outlook she uses on her phone and the fact it
has two inboxes. The mail seems to be divided between the focused mail box
and the other mail box. Cearbhall explained about this and how certain mails
could be flagged. Martha said its not bothering her as she isn't missing any
important mails, she was more curious on why was there two mailboxes.
Ken was asked during the week about changing the setting on zoom to
automatically connect to a meeting without having to double tap on internet
audio. Ken gave the steps and had a practise meeting.
the steps are as follows:
1. Open Zoom
2. open settings.
3. open meeting settings.
4. set the setting to internet audio, its the first choice in this setting.
There was a short talk on Guide Dogs and different stories on their
toileting habits. A few other things got discussed in relation to sport, the
opening and non opening of pubs and walking.
The meeting ended and All said goodbye.
