13 participants today
The pre meeting begun with Jackie telling us about Sasha being sick this
week, we wish her all the best in her recovery. The group talked for a while.
Cearhall was unfortunately having WI fi issues, so the note taker was drafted
to take the notes today. Ken reminded the group about his new email address
he posted to the list earlier this week if anyone wants to contact him.
Discussion of fraudulent calls and text messages came up also in this pre
meeting period. The an post fraud was especially infamous. Joanne said she
got a fraud from the IMF. Apple during the week recommended that people
should download the newest update as it closes off a number of security
issues that have recently emerged. This topic was discussed for a while.
CEarbhall discussed his internet problems over this week he has not had
internet since Friday. This topic was discussed for a period of time. People
asked for some strange reason if he had thick walls and a chimney for some
reason. It was suggested for hi
m to try connecting to zoom with mobile data by turning of his wi fi setting
in his iPhone settings.
Jackie recently discovered that she could record programs from her sky+ box
even though she is not connected to the internet. She found this to be
incredible. She was advised to be careful with this. She is not sure if sky q
boxes can do this, the participants were amazed with this feature. Stuart was
surprised that the sky go app could actually connect to sky q as he was under
the impression that it would not. He will give this a look. Jackie told us
about her newest favourite program flying doctors, she really likes the theme
music. TV programs continued to be talked about for a period after this point.
Paul brought up that his phone would not work after the most recent update.
He rang a number of people during the week to help him fix this issue. The
third phone call was a success as the person he rang advised him to turn of
the Bluetooth and turn it back on. This fixed this issue. The person who
fixed his phone problem was CEarbhall. Paul said that he deserves a 10+ for
his fantastic advice.
The discussion returned to CEarbhall’s internet at this point with the
participants discussing it with him for a while. He has had a number of
discussions with Vodafone in order to try and fix it. His signal broke up for
a period at this point before he returned. A few participants mentioned their
history with poor internet and trying to get it fixed. Jackie suggested
trying to connect to the website written on his modem to try and adjust its
settings. The group hopes that he is able to get his internet sorted soon.
Discussion of e-mail’s and forwarding links and how sometimes they will break
them came up for discussion.
Chris went to charge his phone last night, but it would not connect and
charge. Pat suggested that it may be a bit of dirt that may have been
blocking it. He was advised to get someone with sight to give it a look.to
clean it out. He used a wireless charger as an alternative to charge his
phone last night. Participants were very enthusiastic with praise for
wireless chargers.
The current security issues were discussed again with apple. It was advised
to update as soon as possible. To update go to general then software updates
to do this. Participants had varying experiences with the length it took to
update. Some found it to be quick while others found it to be slow. The
differences in time were down to the number of people downloading the update
at the same time according to Pat. Discussion of the apple watch and its most
recent update commenced as well. The apple watch was talked about in general.
Guide dogs have an open day next week next week.
The apple event may be on the 7th of Septemberthis year. Dominique used some
quite vulgar language here. Dominique asked who Bloomberg are. Some of the
group explained who they are. discussion of apple continued as well as iOS 16
and when it could possibly be released. Everyone told the group what their
first iPhone was. The history of voice over was discussed here as well. The
weakest link came up here as someone from it is a voice over voice. Jackie
said she had an audio book narrated by the Samantha voice over voice.
Discussion of the guide dog open day was discussed. Discussion of guide dogs
in general came up and how well they follow instructions. Puppy walkers were
also talked about here.
Paul has watched all the Michael Collins documentary’s this week. He has
discovered quite a number of new facts about him in the process. This topic
was discussed for a while. historical Politics were also discussed for a
while alongside this topic strangely enough.
The tech club turned into book club for a sizeable chunk going forward. A
number of different Irish books and authors were discussed here as well as
Steven King.
The note taker profusely apologises for the briefness of his minutes this
week.
Regards
The note taker.
