Welcome all inside the magical kingdom of the Cork Tech Club.
The members this morning are as follows:
Des Keaney, Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha Parkinson, Noreen

Cearbhall O'Meadhra, Sean Kavanagh and Clare Cassidy.
We had sorries from Gavin Allman.
This mornings discussion started about washing machines. Ken told us a
question was asked by JoanAnn. So JoanAnn we discovered all men present
accept for Martin Kelly had views on this the three machines mentioned for
their nobs and buttons were Indesit, Beko and Logic. Martin uses the Logic
and finds it very easy to use, while our other men just know the location of
the machines in their homes.
Martha was asking about Webex. none of us had used it so Martha explained.
Webex is a platform like zoom that connects people together. Martha had no
issues with the dry run but in the actual meeting she couldn't get in. Martha
in the end gave up and joined the meeting using her phone.Jackie brought up
about Whatsapp. when in a group message with voice messages voiceover can
lose focus as instead of tapping on the message to play it the user must now
tap on PTT play. Jackie who is quite shy and very polite contacted whatsapp
and after she got cross they told her they are working on a fix.
Ken brought up about the setting that was changed that allowed others to add
you to a group without knowing them. so to change this back to contacts only
go to :
1. Settings.
2. account.
3. privacy.
4. Groups.
Change the groups to contacts and not everyone.
Clare was asking about hosting a meeting in zoom. Clare was given host
controls and was unsure how to let people in from the waiting room.
Instructions was given on how to do this to enable Clare successfully host.
Ken and Jackie both agreed the ding dong is very important to alert the host
there is someone in the waiting room.This is done by going into more and
meeting settings and look for play sound. disclaimer (was unable to double
check the actual words as not hosting a meeting at the moment).
If clare has the sound on and goes into the participant list and once someone
enters the meeting tap on admit.
Then to pass over either full host or CoHost tap on the persons name and
follow the instructions. its vital you check your giving the correct person
the control as once you give the position of host to someone you can't take
it back.
Martin is to report next week about his access group. they use zoom 40min
mode but everyone rings in. Martin is going to test how its done using a
computer.
Cearbhall was telling us about his voiceover freezing during the week. Other
people reported the same issue and a 3 finger double tap generally brings
voiceover back.
Cearbhall also has an issue with VO going low into the background when audio
is playing. We thought the issue was sorted but its a work in progress.
Chris is still very happy with his TPLink plug for his wifi extender. Chris's
wife is also very happy with it. Cearbhall is very interested in how this
plug works and this author can honestly see him purchasing one and pushing it
to its limits. Dominique was telling us about NCBI labs live event..
Dominique starred in the section seeing it your way. Its on the labs podcast
and its around 30mins in. This podcast can be pulled up on Alexa and its also
available on youtube.
Sean has sadly lost his tinkle in outlook. Cearbhall directed him to open
the file menu, arrow up to ease of access and there is a thing here about
sounds. This author may have skipped a step so perhaps Cearbhall can post the
steps. We hope Sean finds his tinkle in outlook.
Fungie the Dolphin was discussed and its not good that Siri talks about him
in the past tense so float free big guy. The merits of fried sausages and
boiled sausages also got a mention.
This author is off to eat a chocolate Eclair with a lovely cuppa.
