Subject: [fb-exchange] CorkTech Club 3rd September
This morning 12 Happy Members joined our TechClub live from Cork on zoom.
We also had a very Special Guest of Tom who came into show us the OrCam.
Jackie kicked us all off with telling us about the conversation she had with
an accessibility person from Bank of Ireland. Jackie reported that BOI are
now looking at the accessibility of their app. They are working with AI Labs
so we all wait for the updates in the future, that will fix the issues on the
app and website.
Joanne was telling us about a not so positive experience with BOI. This was
in relation to getting locked out of her unline account. so after a few calls
to customer service Joanne went into the bank and got all sorted. We also
discovered that many Bank machines have a Jack for earphones but not all
these machines have the software that would enable the screen reader.
Jackie continued with an experience with Electric Ireland and also with ESB
Networks. Jackie got her smart meter installed during the week and when she
registered her account online she realised the wrong address was on her
account. When she rang Electric Ireland and got no joy from them as they
needed a serial number on the Meter itself.When she rang ESB Networks they
were much more helpful and after her sisters gained access to her outdoor
meter they were able to sort everything out. Jackie was in Dublin during the
week so she wasn't at home at the time of needing to break into a meter box.

Ken wanted to change his default email address on his iPhone so he was
directed to settings and mail and swipe to the end of the list and look for
default email.
Cearbhall got a new LogiTeck Keys to Go Keyboard from Amazon, he is very
happy with it.
We had a new member and we were telling her about using Android and laptops.
Some members explained some low vision pieces of tech that could assist our
new member. An low vision assessment is on the cards over the next few weeks.
Tom came in and spoke about and demonstrated the OrCam MyEye. The group were
very impressed with the reading quality. Tom was very capable of answering
all our questions.
