Subject: [fb-exchange] CorkTech Club 7th August.

Its the time of the week again where Lady W brings you through the magic
door into the Cork tech club. The following people were in attendance: Ken
Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan, Martha Parkinson, Noreen Meagher, Pat
McCarthy, Jackie McBrearty, Martin Kelly, Marian Maloney, Stuart Haxell,
Cearbhall O'Meadhra, Mary Lavelle, John Chambers, Paul Griffith and Clare
Cassidy.
The meeting opened today with Ken asking for victims sorry volunteers for
people to take notes. It had been discussed that Lady W and Cearbhall needs a
little support as notes being down to the same two people was unfair. So it
was agreed that the notes would be between Jackie's alter ego Lady W,
Cearbhall, Ken and Martha. They will take turns and hence its Lady W today.
So now back to normal programming.
Martin was asking Cearbhall about updating the zoom app on windows 10. Mary
and Paul both said they got this update. Mary has done it but as yet Paul
hasn't updated.
Soundscape was getting rave reviews from a percentage of our members. The
conversation started on beacons and markers. Many of our members have worked
with it since its release.
Cearbhall asked had anyone updated to IOS 14.7.1, most people said they had
with no major issues.
Pat was asking about the new air tags. This conversation lasted for quite a
while and Gucci handbags and Istanbul were mentioned. during this talking
Lady W was much like the Hamster who was dead but the wheel was still
turning. These tags show potential but we're all baffled.
Cearbhall was using the headache that is teams. Cearbhall had difficulty
conecting the microphone. Martin uses teams on his computer. Martin told
Cearbhall what he does as the majority of us just use the teams app with
various results.
Jackie told us all about getting her name changed on her Covid certificate.
When Jackie got her first cert it didn't have her full title of Lady
Jacqueline McBrearty. Now she did need assistance to complete the online
form. it arrived early this morning as Jackie was finishing the suck stops
here she deleted the old cert from her covid tracking app. Jackie then
opened the email on her iPad and hovered the phone over the iPad screen and
it was in the app within seconds. The next task was the wallet app and
again this was simple as Jackie followed her own instructions to load it on.
These instructions can be viewed on Lady W's notes from the 24th of July.
Jackie was one wee happy covid camper. Jackie also learned today courtesy
of Martin that the QR code she scanned stands for Quick response Code.
Martin asked Stuart about the easy reader app but I believe Stuart is still
having the issues so has virtually given up on it, I fully get you on that
Stuart. Stuart also told us about a new app much like voice dream reader that
he saw on AppleVis and downloaded it during the week. The app is called
Speech Central, this is a free app and here's the link to the app store.

Chris asked us about deleting backups on his iCloud as he was running out of
storage. Chris got a few pieces of advice so he will enter his cave and
debate his choices.
