Sean Kavanagh, Mary Rose Mullen, and Pat Walsh.
Today we had a special guest Dr Chris Egan who is a heating and plumbing
expert cane on to explain about the Ember heating system and other plumbing
issues. Dr Egan explained this heating system works in zones, valves with a
five year battery life must also be placed on the heaters so heating can be
controlled individually. A few of our members have ember and they are very
happy. Ember is an Irish owned company based in the real capital and the link
for the app is below.
Cearbhall was having issues with his hot water tap taking a while to heat up.
Dr Egan explained that there is already cold water in the pipes so this has to
come out before the hot water begins.
Cearbhall also had issues with his shower and he was wondering how to turn off
the water. Dr Egan explained about turning it off from the tank or the stopcock
can be used generally this is under the sink.
Pat w, then enquired about his heater in the bathroom he found he had to bleed
it allot. Dr Egan believed there could be a small leak that would cause this
airlock.
Noreen, then asked Dr Egan about removing limeScale from the water, this
according to Dr Egan could be quite costly, high amounts of LimeScale could
eventually erode the tank and parts associated with it.

Cearbhall then told us about his new hearing aids from hidden hearing.
Cearbhall is very impressed with these hearing aids and he explained he heard
noises that he hadn't heard in years like his wife breathing, the washing
machine and the ticking of the boiler. These hearing aids have 360 degrees of
sound, they can connect to his iPhone. Cearbhall was using them today while on
the zoom call and he sounded very clear.
I started to weep at this point as aftershockz were brought up. Chris was using
them on the call but then he was asked to change over to his wired ones and he
came out allot clearer with the wired ones. There appears to be some distortion
when aftershokz are used on platforms like zoom or teams.
Paul asked about using the alexa app to answer the daily question. When he uses
the app and he invokes siri to make voiceover return to a hearable level, he
finds that voiceover is talking and disrupting the game.A number of suggestions
were being used, these are as follows:
1. do a three finger double tap and mute voiceover.
2. open the alexa app and turn voiceover completely off, by either triple
clicking the home button or side button or just ask siri.
3. if in the same room as the alexa device then either unplug her or mute her
and go back to communicating with the app.
4. Much like the control key on a computer with Jaws just lightly touch the
screen with two fingers an this would silence voiceover for a wee while.
5. Just use the device and forget about the app unless your away from your
device.
The Alexa app does not need wifi to work. Jackie explained when she is in
Donegal minus wifi she can go into recently played and randomly put music or
radio stations on. The devices in the home must be online otherwise this will
not work.
Ken, told us about how his smart plug which was connected to his lamp suddenly
started flashing on and off at 2am. Ken awoke his sister as he believed she was
messing around, none of us had an answer. Ken will plug in the smart plug again
today and see does the same thing happen.
