Welcome to another episode of The Cork tech club coming to you live from
Zoom.. Lady W will bring you through the double tapping and keyboard bashing
of all those with issues. Sit back and relax and come with me through the
magic door. In attendance today we had: Ken Walsh, Derry Walsh, Chris Egan,
Martha Parkinson, Noreen Meagher, Jackie McBrearty, Pat McCarthy,
Dominique Farrell, Martin Kelly, Cearbhall O'Meadhra and Paul Griffiths.
We had sorries from Gavin Allman.
This meeting started with a headache and the different ways voiceover
pronounces the word head ache. Samantha and Moira seems to have difficulty.
Jackie ended up changing it in pronunciations so now her headache is gone.
This headache was only sorted yesterday but before that she had a woeful
experience with a teams webbing hour. Jackie just left after a short while as
she was concerned her teams bashing would be heard as voiceover was not
reacting to the pause or mute buttons.
Continuing with the headache talking about headaches Dominique who is having
a Birthday tomorrow The talented cork group sang happy birthday, Its of this
note takers opinion a future in a Choir is not on the cards for this motley
group. Now back to the issue When Dominique joined she could hear us but we
couldn't hear her. This story has been shortened because it just went over
this note takers head. So Dominique uses a plantronic headset but sometimes
she just uses her speaker however, this speaker does not have a microphone so
with some fiddling of settings Dominique could hear and be heard.
Martin Kelly put us all to shame when he got the Lady A to sing Happy
Birthday to Dominique and sadly she was very much in tune compared to the out
of tune Choir.
Ken got his be my eyes issue sorted. There was no success in contacting the
developers in be my eyes so Ken just signed out and he signed in again using
google. This sorted his issue as he did a test call to microsoft and he got
through, he was unable to do this before.
Ken is also having an issue with his clock. When he asks siri to set an
alarm she is running an hour behind. This appears to be an issue since the
latest update. The strange thing when Ken goes into the clock app the correct
time is set. Pat also had the same issue.
Martha asked about minimising and Maximising in windows so Martha to minimise
you press alt, space and M and to Maximise you press alt, space and X.
Cearbhall shared that a fix is getting worked on with book share.
We in the cork tech group discussed all the scams happening with the likes of
social welfare and the Gardaí. We all advice to give no information to these
people. In relation to the Gardaí if you've been arrested best confirm your
name
Cearbhall was having connection issues and Chris's TPLink was discussed
again, Its working out great in his cave.
The aldi app got a mention and the latest fault with it once you open the app
using voiceover you get an error message. The tip is to turn off VO and ask
siri to open Aldi then turn VO back on.
The meeting ended when this note taker got a call about fresh strawberries.
all have a great weekend
Lady W
