Gary,
I agree with you that this is very annoying.
Would you try this and see how you get on:
1. Find a title that you have not borrowed;
2. As you say, you will be offered only the preview and borrow options along
with the ellipsis.
3. Now single tap with four fingers in the centre of the screen and see if that
open up the familiar descriptions of the title and author as before.
I have just successfully tried this myself on the iPhone SE running IOS 14.6.
It is not acceptable as a normal way of using this page but it would bel useful
to report this action to the developers.
All the best,
Cearbhall

Subject: [fb-exchange] Re: Dublin Tech Club 14th. June 2021,
Another annoying feature in borrow box, is that they have removed the bit that
informed you what the audio book was about when you are searching, you can only
hear a sample but lets hope they reinstate the way borrow box was about a week
ago. Who can I contact to ask if these changes are for the future?.

Declan opened up with a new microphones that he is trying out to see if it
would suit as support for future live meetings. However, the sound was not
good this morning. The microphone seems to b picking up slight echoes from
the surrounding room causing it to vary in volume and in clarity. This would
make it uncomfortable for a full meeting.
The Public Libraries in Ireland are committed to BorrowBox, Bolinda Audio's
flagship application for listening to audio books and eBooks. In the past
few weeks, the "Now playing" function has disappeared. A new option that
appears to be a settings dialog, appears where the "Now playing" button was
located. This new button is not correctly labelled. As most readers will
know, the "Now Playing" button was a very handy way for getting back into a
book at the exact spot where you last stopped. Now it is necessary to find
the book and then adjust the reading position to the nearest recognisable
place to continue on. A note has been sent to the developer to see if this is
only a temporary glitch or must we adjust to a Lon-term loss of this
function.
BorrowBox registration was suspended for the past 18 months due to Covid but
is now required. A simple phone call to the local library will suffice. The
librarian will then renew your original bar code and four digit pin.
Other alternatives such as Audible (.co.uk and .com) Easy Reade, Caliber,
Bookshare, etc were discussed, .
The audio provider, scribD was mentioned as an alternative source of
electronic books. Similar to the others, it offers Access to an unlimited
number of e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more — all for only €9,99 per
month. A free, 30-day initial offer is available to encourage subscription.
More information is available at: Https://www.scribd.com/about
Revolut is proving really popular as a safe means of card payment. The
initial process needs sighted assistance as the passport and selfie that are
required for identification have proved impossible to create non-visually. A
sheen on the passport photo is unavoidable without sight and care is needed
to secure a selfie that matches the passport photo in a convincing manner.
We are inclined to book all our communication services with the same provider
but it appears that this is not at all necessary. By way of example, the
meeting recommended the user friendly Skye Box for the television and Virgin
Media for telephone communication.
Holidays, and the lack of WIFI while away from the home base, prompted bob to
find out the possibility of using his mobile phone as a WIFI source and what
costs people were aware of. The meeting recommended either pay as you go or
"All you can eat" data provision to make this and economic proposition. To
use this feature, the mobile phone is set up as a "Hot Spot" that generates a
WIFI stream which can then be used by another internet using system. As the
Hot Spot is using cellular data, this could prove expensive.
Catherine from Fighting Blindness will attend the next meeting to explain the
ins and outs of a new fund-raising campaign for the Summer.
The meeting ended
