Dublin Bus is set to axe its app this month in a huge change that will affect
thousands of commuters.
The public transport service will be scrapping its real time app that gives
information on bus times and routes. The app, which has not been updated in six
years, will be removed from the Apple and Android stores on May 16, and the app
will stop working from May 23.
Instead, commuters have been advised to download the new TFI Live app launched
by the National Transport Authority. The new app gives commuters access to real
time departure and journey planning information across the Transport for
Ireland network.
A spokesperson for Dublin Bus said: "We wish to advise customers that on
Tuesday, May 16 our apps will be removed from both Apple and Android platforms
and from Tuesday, May 23 our apps will no longer return real time bus
information.
"The TFI Live app will be the only app for up-to-date reliable information, and
we are pleased to be supporting one public transport app."
The key features of the TFI Live app include:
Ability to view real time departure information for Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead
Ireland, Iarnród Ãireann, Luas and Bus Ãireann.
Option to select your origin and destination to find the best route for your
journey.
Search tool, for route specific timetables and maps.
Save your favourite journeys, departures and timetables for quick access on the
go.
You can download the app on the Transport for Ireland website.
