Hi, from a cool and to get much colder Dublin.
There were 9 enthusiastic tecdhies for today’s meeting.
Yours truly went to log on at around 10.45, but the doors did not open till
around 10.55, Cearbhall was having difficulty in opening his Zoom link.
A further e- mail containing the link was sent out to allow Martin join us.
More talk about the problems in listening to coverage of the world cup games on
radio.
Paul said the only sure way to get a good commentary was to use Virgin Media
as your TV provider, as they have the rights to relay the BBC Radio 5 live
station , who broadcast all the matches.
Of course if you have a UK, sim card which you can put into your smart phone,
then you should be able to listen. As well.
If you use 360 Virgin Media, just say BBC radio 5 live or BBC radio 5 extra and
you will find the commentary.
As well of course BBC television channel 1 show the game and RTE 2 show all
the games.
At this stage Martin told us that he has downloaded an app called AIRA, this is
an app where using the app, one can get help in crossing the road or telling a
person what is written on a letter or describing ingredients for a recipe.
This is a paid for app, although the first 5 minutes are free, and works much
the same as that free app, BE MY EYES. These things are described by a sighted
person to enable a VIP person to navigate a road, or understand a letter or
make some new dish for eating.
Tom is getting an error message on his ORBIT READER, it says SD IN ERROR THEN
SAYS C E. .
Cearbhall says that the SD, stands for the SD card whidh contains the data
usage.
Nobody could shed much light on this message. PAUL asked if the READER had a
help line, but Tom said no, but Cearbhall could send an E-Mail to the owners
and perhaps have an answer for our next meeting.
Tom also asked if there was a way he could find out , how much free memory was
left at any particular time.
Mary asked a question, she
GETS ACCESS TO HER CHOIRMASTERS dropbox app which contains a link to the words
of a song she must learn.
But normally there is a link which when she clicks it, it transfers the
relevant link into her Drop box app.
Cearbhall thought that the choirmasters link was probably different to those he
normally sends.
Mary is going to copy the link, and send it to Cearbhall to have him look at
it, and perhaps come up with a solution to her problems.
The only things that Mary can see in the choirmasters DROPBOX, are the word
cancel, she normally sees the word transfer files.
Tom has an oil tank at the end of his garden near a wall.
His wife things this could be vulnerable for thieves to suck the oil out of
his tank.
He heard that one can put an accessible device which tells a person how much
oil is left in the tank.
He gathers that this device is also able to connect to a smart phone to relay
that information. He is not sure if it works with voice over.
Stuart told him to ask the providers of this gadget to try it out first on his
tank before he purchased the device.
Paul wanted to know how to add the book that he last read on audible to his
collections.
Stuart said that one should go to their library and look for add to my
collection or go to archieve and place the finished book there.
Annette wanted to know more about Audible.co.uk.
This is part of Amazon, and when one subscribes they can listen to the very
latest audio books.
One purchases a series of licenses costing around 7.99€, even if the book
costs say 35€ , you can purchase that book for as little as 7.99€ by using
your license.
One can have 6 licenses in their app , but then they must download some books.
There are yearly deals as well.
That’s all folks
Paul
