HI Folks, it's a nice warm weather in Dublin today.
Congratulations to Cillian Murphy on winning the BAFTA award for best
actor of the year.
He got his award for his portrayal of Oppenheimer in the film of the same
name.
There were 14 happy zoomers for today's Dublin tech club.
Cearbhall was not feeling very well, but still managed to take part, we all
wish him a quick return to a healthier state. .
There was talk of impending elections and how to vote as a vision impaired
person.
There is a piece of plastic which can be put over the referendum voting
sheet, with a hole to place your x vote in either the yes or no box.
Vision Ireland can give some training on this if needed or indeed the
Dublin or Cork tech clubs could do as well if needed.
Some recommendations from Eamonn and Marti to podcasts and a certain
television programme.
Eamonn suggested opening BBC SOUND, and scrolling to a podcast called the
Gate keeper.
There are several editions of this programme waiting to be listened and
Eamonn recommends them highly.
A more raunchy programme was suggested by Marti it's called NAKED
ATTRACTION, and airs on channel 4 once a week around 10 pm.
There are 5 or so beautiful women inside glass boxes in their birthday
suits!!.
A man can ask to open whichever glass case he wants to view the women,
(oh, This is all too much for me, I can feel a hot flush coming on), but
you get the idea.
Marti who learned about the NEXT BUS app, last week, reported that she
found it much better than the TFI bus app.
She downloaded the NEXT BUS app from the app store. . She found her bus
the number 83, and was able to find the times and added this and her bus
stop to her favourites.
The word favourites does not appear, but a love heart is where the button
for favourites is there.
One can create a label for favourites there by doubling tapping and holding
down the second finger until you hear edit.
Then type in the word favourite. .
Cearbhall said that he found the braille Hable1 keyboard, the best for
finding the link for the waiting room, to allow him to admit the
various members of the FB tech club.
There are a lot of people interested in learning some of the easier
things on braille, and some are starting a course in the first steps of
braille.
This would be off course useful in using a lift which had braille buttons.
Good luck to Ireland with their next sixth nations clash which is on next
Saturday against Wales.
It was a fun meeting with little in the way of technology, but plenty of
help in looking and enjoying podcasts and TV programmes.
That's all folks
Paul
