Hi Folks, what can you say about the weather, it's spring for a
while, then summer for a couple of hours, then the cold chill wind
comes back, to make it a Winters day.
There were 11 Participants for today's meeting.
There will be no meeting next Monday as it's the May bank holiday.
The next Monday Tech. club meeting will be on Monday May 8th.
Congratulations to our very own Stuart, who took 2nd place in the
Blind Tennis held in Shankill, Co. Dublin yesterday.
Also taking part was Martin who also performed admirably
Paul asked if one should be able to answer their smart phone when its
locked?
Jackie said that this was possible, if Paul picks up his phone in the
early hours of the morning, it calls out the time for him, as his wake
up setting is set to the default one of calling out the time.
This does not mean that your phone is unlocked.
Tom signed in again as an Iphone user, after he changed his name to TOM, .
He then got a notification that his name was now changed to Tom, for
the purpose of using the Zoom app.
Jackie/Cearbhall said that this would only work for this meeting and
he would have to follow Cearbhall's instructions to change his Zoom
user name to Tom for future meetings.
There was a lot of talk on using bus time apps, Bert was very
enthusiastic about the app, MOVIT.
He said that it would direct you to the stops nearest you, and give
you the times of the next few buses. Also it will call out each stop
as you set off on your travels.
The Dublin Bus app is still in existence, but it will only tell you
the times of Dublin Buses and not the new GO AHEAD Busess.
Talk was also on the new TFI app, that's the new Transport for Ireland app.
Jackie is having an ongoing problem using the Tesco website.
Everytime she goes to log on, and order her groceries, she gets a
message that she is currently off line.
People thought that this could be a browser problem, but Jackie said no, as
she tried the website using Bing, Windows, and Google, but always got the
same message that she is currently off line.
She even tried using incognito mode and also got the same message.
She sent out a message to a mailing list , and got a reply from a
girl in Wales, who is also getting this message.
Albert told the meeting that he listened to a podcast from the RNIB,
about that new app, OKO, which tells users of their app , whether
the traffic lights are Red or Green.
They said that this app eats up your battery, and the phone got very
hot, and there were not too impressed with the OKO app.
Mary who had a problem a number weeks ago abut sending a book back to
audible .co.uk.
She found after a huge search where the purchase history menu was but when
she went to return the vbook, which was bought over a year ago, that
she could not return this book, as it was outside the limits for returning.
Also Jackie said that only books bought with a credit can be returned,
and those bought with cash cannot be sent back.
May I wish all a very happy bank holiday weekend.
That's all Guys,
Paul
