Paul was stating that his screen was freezing on his iPhone 7
sometimes after downloading ios 14.02 update.
It is not the time out where your phone freezes and you press the home
button to continue,
It happens and the only way to get the screen moving again is to press
the home button three times,
Where it will say speech off, and then press again three times to get
the sound back.
Then the phone will wake up again, it's a little bug from the update.
Paul/Jackie were asking questions regarding Apple pay, now that it is
available with Bank of Ireland customers.
Mary and Annette use Apple payy often. Bring your smart phone to the
pay terminal, and hold the phone facing yourself, and in my case,
press the thumb on the home key to confirm the purchase.
For Jackie with her iPhone 11, with face recognition,
It's the same, just face the phone towards yourself, and even with a
phone COVER at the back, the phone will confirm purchase .
With face recognition. Face recognition is only with the later Iphones
LIKE model 11 and now the new range of iPhone 12.
For the rest of us using iPhones 6/7 /8 the thumb mark on the home
key will do the purchase.
To look at your contacts in Outlook, use the key strokes,
Control + number 3 or control+shift+letter b, to find all your contacts.
Mary has a problem with using Jaws with software called Jamulus
For her choir practice.
It seems when using Zoom, with her choir practice, there is a time lag
between people speaking/singing, caused by the various speeds of
people's different wifi systems.
Jamulus coupled with a sound card which must be downloaded can
correct this but it does not sit well with Jaws users.
There were a number of suggestions on how to get over this problem by
Bert and Cearbhall.
Mary only needs the Jaws to join the group, and does not need it when
practice starts.
Cearbhall promised to do some work on this problem, and at the time of
minute writing, I noticed a mail from Cearbhall in relation to her
difficulties.
Martin and Eamon are doing a course on Audacity with Stuart Lawler,
and promised to ask Stuart for his take on Mary's problem.
Tom whom we heard very clearly today, says that while making phone
calls with his earpods on,
People complained that they did not hear him all that clearly. .
Cearbhall and others said that it was a possible problem on the
other peoples phones, and not the fault of his earpods.
Tom also complained about not being on the fb mailing list, Cearbhall
promised to rectify this and get him on our list.
Around this time LadyJackie disappeared mysteriously for an hour at least.
Probably has a part time job as a local lap dancer!
She said that she was filling up a form /survey for costs relating to
costs incurred by visually impaired people with living expenses and so forth.
Jackie described the filling up of this complicated form in very
colourful language.
Mary went for a new walk this morning with her guide dog, Hannie, and
took a route she did not know well.
She was using blind square to help her navigate, but although it
called out road names, for both sides of the road, it did not say
whether the road called out by name was on the right or left side.
This led to a discussion
Of creating landmarks for yourself and using blind square with Google maps.
Blind square has three options, simulation / tracking and planning a route.
