Chou, everybody and congratulations to Italy.
A big welcome to Gerda on joining the exchange club.
Things got under way with Declan informing Gerda on how to join our mailing
list.
Declan will send her a link to enter on and she fills in her name and
mailing address, and goes to subscribe.
Albert thought it was a good idea to consider setting up another mailing
list like the IOS mailing list.
He thought it was easier to join and could be a better alternative to the
Fighting Blindness free mailing list.
Gerda was in hospital recently ,
And her iPhone was on the bed but fell off and since that , her voice over
has not worked properly.
The phone goes to make emergency calls.
Albert thought her phone was not damaged and that she could turn off
emergency calling in her settings.
Albert things that the problem , she is having is more to do with Siri,
rather than voice over.
Gerda received help from Cearbhall with regard to using Dictation, which
most people say is more reliable than using Siri.
She was also given the Apple help line number.
When talking to Apple at the beginning you will be asked for the phone model
number and serial number, which is very long.
This can be very difficult for a visually impaired person, so Jackie
suggested
Muttering some number which the agent or artificial voice will not
understand, and you will then reach a real person agent.
These numbers can be found by going to settings , then General, then about.
Gerda is also having problems with bills from Eir,
Like charges for making calls to Australia using facetime to another iPhone
user using her wifi. . Martin, says he got a note increasing their fees from
September 1st from Eir, and thought
That because he signed a yearly contract, that this should not happen to
him.
All told Martin that companies can do this , that it is in their terms and
conditions.
Albert said that the new Windows 11 would be available in a year or so, but
different short cut keys will be needed to operate the windows 11.
A bit scary but Windows 10 would have technical support till at least
2025.
Tom and others reported that while using Zoom on their phones, the sound
volume drops.
Albert said that one could try going to open Bluetooth, and go to the
information button and try
Another setting like car mode or headset phones or head sets.
Paul wanted to know how to use his Alexa device while on the move.
Declan said the he should enable the microphone and Alexa voice on his
Amazon Alexa app on his phone.
Paul wanted to be able to ask for the question of the day while not at home,
Paul will try to do this now, and report back.
The people who had a discussion with the City council and those
responsible for traffic flow
Reported back on the traffic changes for the Ely place/Hume street/Merrion
row areas.
