Paul I've just asked Alexa to send a text message to my brother in Geneva
and she said that SMS MESSAGE is not available on that device but she could
send a voice message instead, and she did. I've an Echo Dot Fourth
Generation.

We learned some important news this morning.
Declan discovered Jackie on Twitter some time ago, Well Well now!!
This must rank as a great testimonial for the Twitter app.
Also Sky breaking news, Our Wicklow man has joined the 21st century by
purchasing the Alexa device.
Welcome Cearbhall to the wonderful world of Alexa and artificial
intelligence.
Cearbhall has now got two women in his life, but I prefer the woman from
Mayo !
Declan told us of a forthcoming discussion with a lady who specialises in
fabric micro controllers, little computer software devices that can be sewen
into the fabric of your clothes. Sounds very interesting.
John Chambers was our co-host for the meeting today, and he admitted Jackie
into the waiting room , using android technology (Talk Back) . Well done
John.
Declan directed John to the list of participants where he saw Jackie's
name and beside her name was the word Admit, he clicked her name and the
bell rung to admit her to the waiting room.
Paul often wondered why his key strokes for muting speech and quitting Zoom
did not work sometimes, now he knows.
There are two frame pages in Zoom, one the Zoom page, and the other one is
Zoom meeting.
You can only use alt plus letter a to mute and unmute your speech, while in
the Zoom meeting page.
Also using alt plus letter q to leave the meeting only works while in the
Zoom meeting. So you might have to do alt +tab to make sure that your on the
meeting page.
Tom has a problem using his se 20 iPhone, he opens his smart phone and
things are ok for a short time, then without warning his mail ap
., and several other apps disappear from his phone.
He has to power on and off his phone to get things back to normal
Bert and Jackie thought the problem was that he had voice recognition
enabled.
To correct this go to settings, general, accessability , and touch to turn
this off.
This is a feature to allow people with extreme mobility issues to use the
phone to suit their needs.
There was more talk on the various merits of Alexa versus Google home
player.
The Google player is now known as Google Nest.
Jackie has the most advanced Alexa its called Alexa ecco show and tell, and
comes with a screen.
One can bring a product over to the screen, and Alexa will tell you what the
product's name is,
Also now one can watch Net Flicks on the Alexa screen.
Jackie says that there are a number of Alexa show devices ranging from a 6
inch screen through a 8 inch screen, and even a 10 inch screen.
Dominique wanted to know how to get Alexa to send another alexa user a text
message. Simply say Alexa send a text message to Anne, and she will say what
do you want to say, give her your message and she will say do you want to
send the message, say yes , send the text message.
You can ask her to call another friend who has enabled call messaging, and
she will ring the phone number for you, when finished the call , tell Alexa
hang up.

Michael Brown has a tutorial on using Face time audio as a conference call,
and he will send this to the FB mailing group.
He also wanted to know if he could get updates for his an Samsung A5 smart
phone
Declan says that the best android phone for updates is Google Pixcell and
the next best are the Samsung smart mobiles, while he has a Blackberry, not
great for updates, but has a real keyboard.
Albert wanted to know if he could get rid of the
Dismiss menu button which keeps coming up on his brand new iPhone 12, Jackie
said that she did not think that it was possible to get rid of it
completely. .
Staying on the Android technology, Declan was explaining the role of
launchers and said anybody buying a new Samsung mobile would be advised to
stay with the Launcher as it is on the phone when you buy. Your new
phone.
Tom was looking for something for his real life meetings, and asked Declan
how his ANCHOR POWER conference gadget was getting on.
Declan said that it was good for a number of people at a meeting, and had
several microphones.
But suggested to Tom that he could use a laptop with a usb conference
microphone .
